As I stood there confused, Hunter motioned for me to hide. I darted into the closet that was behind me and quietly shut the door, falling back in the empty space. Closets are for storage not for emptiness!
I listened as boots clacked against the ground, and the front door slammed shut.
"So, where is she?" a voice that I did not recognize asked.
"Who?" Hunter questioned with a bored tone. I heard him plop down on the couch and rest his feet on the hard table.
"You know who my friend. I know you have a girl here!"
"There is no girl," Tyler stepped in.
It grew silent as the boots continued to clack against the ground. I rested my ear against the door and listened as they began to grow closer and closer. They jingled as my heart race increased.
Suddenly, the door was thrown open, and my body fell to the floor. My head hit the brown boots, and quickly I jumped to my feet.
"Then who's this?" a tall boy asked, smirking in my face. He was missing one tooth in the front while the rest weren't straight. His cool hazel eyes board into mine, and his breath smelled of cigarettes and alcohol. I stepped back as he reached out to stroke my cheek.
"That's my sister," Hunter growled, stepping in front of me protectively.
"You don't have a sister," the boy corrected, arching his left eye brow.
"She's my sister," Tyler said, standing next to me. Wow!
"You're Hunter's brother which makes you both not have a sister!" the stranger snarled, obviously getting angry. "Now just tell me who she is before I loose it!"
Hunter let out a defeated sigh. "She's my room mate."
"Do you two have anything going on?"
Hunter shook his head. "No Blake, we don't."
"You're father will be down tomorrow to discuss this with you three." With that said, Blake exited the house, leaving us in complete and awkward silence.
I was about to ask what was going on but decided not to when Hunter's fist connected with the wall next to him, creating a large hole. I winced as he pulled his bloody hand out. He didn't seem to mind though as he stormed into the kitchen, leaving Tyler and I alone.
"I should go talk to him," I said.
"Are you sure? Hunter can get a bit... angry at times."
I gave him an assuring smile and nodded. Tyler ran his hand in my hair, messing it up before shoving his hands in his pockets and leaving through the front door. I let out a shaky breath before entering the kitchen to find Hunter running his hand under cold water.
I grabbed the first aid kit from the bottom cabinet before making my way over to him, grabbing a paper towel to dry off his hand.
"Let me help," I announced, turning off the water and pulling his hand towards my direction. I gently dried it off, red blood stains covering the towel as I did so. Once it was dry, I took some medicine. He hissed as I covered his cuts with the medicine and gently wrapped it in a bandage.
"I expect you're going to ask what that's about?" he asked, causing me to slightly smile and shake my head.
"I'm not going to push anything," I informed, looking him in the eyes to tell him I was telling the truth. I didn't want to cause a fight or have him storm off.
"You're different Zoe," he said, catching me off guard. "Most girls just want to get in bed with me. But you... you actually care for me."
"You're my room mate," I shrugged. "We gotta look out for eachother."
