Chapter 28
I breathed in the amazing air and let it loose through my lips. I was standing outside my grandparents cute, cottage in the woods with Hunter and my brothers behind me. Trees formed as a canopy around the cabin, making it seem safe and secure by the trees. I always pretended they were guardians when I was a child.
My grandparents never knew about the abuse my parents caused towards me. I was never aloud to talk about it towards anyone. I had to act like I had the best parents in the world so no one would suspect anything.
I pulled my fist back and connected it with the wooden door a few times. It was about one in the afternoon and their car was in the driveway, so I knew they were home. Also, there was movement heard inside so it was now obvious they were present. Once the door opened, I was greeted with my beautiful grandmother who's jaw dropped in shock. Her big brown eyes widened and she immediately pulled me in for a tight squeeze.
"Is it really you?" she questioned, rubbing the back of my head with her warm, soft hand.
"It's really me nana," I replied with a sob as tears trickled down my face. When we released eachother, her eyes fell on Mark and Ryan and they quickly scooped her up in a hug.
"Jim! Jim!" she called for my grandfather. "Come quick! Look who came to visit!"
Slowly and carefully my grandfather walked into the entrance with his cane and adjusted his glasses. Seeing it was his grandchildren who he probably hasn't seen in ages was when he lifted his arms, dropping his cane. I ran into him gently and rested my face in the warmth of his sweater. I had missed them so much! Being here brought back too many memories. Amazing memories! Ones without abuse and torture, which I think they finally needed to know about. Yes, this was defiantly the time to tell them.
"And who is this young lad?" Grand mom asked, pointing towards my boyfriend. I turned around, still wrapped in my grandpas arms and explained to them that he was my boyfriend who bought us the plain tickets. She pulled him into a hug which he slowly and awkwardly returned. I laughed and snuggled closer to my grandfather.

That night, we were all huddled around the warm fire place, me wrapped in Hunters arms on the ground on fluffy blankets, drinking hot chocolate with extra marshmallows. I took in a deep breath, and began my speech.
"Grandma, grandpa."
"Yes honey?" Grandma smiled.
"There's something you guys should know. Actually... two things you guys should know."
"What's that pumpkin?" Grandpa asked with a smile, sipping his delicious sweet drink.
"Mom and Dad weren't the best parents... they abused me." My grandmother gasped. "I didn't even know Ryan and Mark existed until just a while ago! They beat me and told me I was worthless! I wasn't aloud to share this information with anyone because they didn't want anyone to know!" I felt the tears begin to fill my eyes and Hunter rubbed my stomach, which was the next thing they had to know. "I had to run away from them and the only way to do that was to have Casey take me to live with Hunter here, and that's how we became boyfriend and girlfriend. And I'm kind of... pregnant with his child."
My grandmother gasped again, but grinned instantly. "I'm going to be a great grandmother!" Then she started to process the other things I had said. "My daughter was an abuser? I had not raised her to be that way! Sweet heart come here." She opened her arms wide and Hunter released me so I could be wrapped in my grandparents arms. "I am so sorry you had to live like that! You did not deserve that and no child should ever live like that! You know I love you and would never dream of hurting you."
