Chapter 23
Warning- changing of POVS.
Hunters POV.
When I didn't feel the pound from the bullet digging into the bullet proof vest, I grew suspicious. Opening my eyes was when I found Sasha on the ground in front of me, blood pooling from her stomach.
"Sasha?" I whispered, crawling towards her to pull her into my arms. She wiggled around before catching my eyes. "Why'd you do that?"
She didn't answer for a moment as she coughed and I rubbed my thumb over her cheek. "Sh-she needs you," she gulped, and I knew she was talking about Zoe.
"I had a bullet proof vest on," I mumbled making sure my cruel father didn't hear. "That was all part of the plan."
She looked away to turn her head but I snatched her chin and met her gaze again. I knew we had a few bumps in our path, but Sasha needed help. Her parents left her when she was four and she was forced to live with her abusive aunt. We meant in high school and she was one of those girls who wore barely any clothes. And when she did wear clothes, they were short and tight. We ended up dating and when I found out she was the clinging type, I dumped her. And now, I start to feel horrible for her.
"I'm... sorry," were her last words before her body fell limp and she let loose her last breath.
"No!" I yelled, shaking her body. My hands took her face and I shook her head back and forth, trying to get the girl to open her eyes. "Sasha! Wake up!" Nothing.
A tear slowly escaped my eye and ran down in the crevasse between my nose and cheek. It dipped down after leaving a wet trail and fell onto her cheek. There was nothing more I could do for her, and I closed my eyes, thanking her inside of my head.
Zoe's POV.
I gulped down a ball of saliva that had been sitting in my mouth as I looked down at Sasha. Even though she was a bitch to me, I thanked her for saving me. If her, Casey and Mandy hadn't showed up, I would've been dead. Watching Hunter try to wake her up tore at my heart strings not because of jealousy but because of seeing a tear run down his face.
I looked up to find Brandon quickly and sneakily unhooking the chains from Tyler's wrists and rushing over to rip the rope with a knife that held the guys. While Hunter stood up and ran after his father, Tyler followed and so did everyone else except for Ryan who rushed over to me with a key in his hand. No one came to stop him because he was too quick. His hands loosened the chains and I took my hands away with a sigh of relief. My wrists were red and sore so my brother gave them each a gentle kiss.
"C'mon," he ordered, trying to drag me away but I planted my heels into the ground.
"I'm not leaving without Hunter! I have to help him."
"You're in no condition to help," he snarled and I knew he was right. But I wasn't going to leave Hunter because he would never leave me. Ryan tried pulling me along again but I ripped my arm right out of his hold.
"I'm going to help him!" I informed my brother and when he tried to reach for my hand again, I pulled away and ran in the other direction, slipping a knife from the ground.
Hunter was on the ground being beaten by his father and I winced when he got kicked right in the nose. I gripped the knife in my sweaty hand and took a deep breath in. Killing Drake would get rid of our problems but wouldn't really prove anything other than Hunter and I both hate him. I didn't really want to kill him but he was beating my boyfriend, his son! And I wasn't going to deal with this shit anymore. It ended here.
It would've ended when I stuck the knife right into his back but instead, my plan backfired.
Hunters POV.
I saw my father move out of the way to give me clear vision of Zoe falling to her knees with a knife planted in her back by Cole who wore a shocked and disgusted expression.
"NO!" I screamed, trying to crawl towards her but Drake grabbed my ankles and dragged me away from her right when my hand was about to grab her small one.
"Hunter," she groaned, wincing at the pain. I tried my best to pull out of my fathers grasp and wondered why no one else was helping me. Then, I noticed they were all being shot with a strange needle that was filled with a green liquid.
Zoe's cries filled my ears and my eyes darted back to her as she sobbed, gripping the ground with her hands trying to ease the pain. I wanted to pull the knife right out of her back and rush her to a hospital, filling her head with soothing words. But instead I was being dragged away from her as she lay there bleeding with the knife still deep in her skin.
"H-Hunter!" she stuttered when Cole grabbed her arm with force and pulled the knife right from her back. She screamed in pain and tears zoomed down her cheeks.
"NO!" I screamed, kicking my feet to try and get my fathers hold off of me. "LET HER GO! LET HER GO RIGHT NOW!"
Cole picked up my girl and smirked down at me before someone stabbed me with a sharp object and my vision was starting to get blurry. I fought the feeling to fall asleep, but I couldn't stand it anymore as my eyes grew extremely heavy.
The last thing I saw was Zoe looking pleadingly into my eyes.
~•~
I tiredly opened my eyes to just squint them when I found myself in a completely white room. White walls, white floors and white cabinets. I knew I was in a hospital room right away unlike the dumb asses in movies who have no clue where they are. It was pretty obvious with the different tools only hospitals carried that sat on the counters.
But why was I in the hospital? How did I get here? The last thing that I remembered was everyone being stabbed with needles, and Drake pulling me away from...
Where the fuck was Zoe?
I pushed the blankets away from me to try and stand up, but as soon as my feet touched the cold, tiled floor, my head began to spin and the room was all wiggly. I couldn't stand it anymore and immediately dropped back down onto the bed.
When the door opened and a nurse walked in, she gave me a warm smile before looking down at her clipboard. "How are you feeing Mr. Wolf?" she asked and I cringed from her chirpy voice.
"Why can't I stand up?" I snarled. She just gave me a sad look before bringing over a needle.
"We had to give you a type of medicine to get the poison out of you and it will make you feel dizzy when you try to stand up. Now I'm going to take your blood and run some tests to see if we got all the poison out."
"Poision?" I questioned as she stuck the empty needle into my arm, drawing blood. I didn't even flinch. "Where's Zoe?"
The nurse looked at me puzzled as she took the needle out. Just then, my mother walked into the room and asked to speak to me alone.
"What's going on? Why can you walk? Where did poison come from? Where's Zoe!"
"Calm down," my mother soothed, sitting in the chair next to the bed and rubbing my arm gently. "I'll explain everything but you have to calm down, alright?"
I leaned back in the bed and threw my head back, looking up at the ceiling. Taking in a deep breath and releasing it again, I looked back over at Mandy and nodded for her to continue.
"The green liquid that you saw that your father injected into everyone was poison, which was strong enough to knock you all out. It would have eventually killed you too. He didn't give me any which wasn't a surprise, but what we all didn't know was Casey had already called the police, and they were on the phone the whole time."
"So they came after I got knocked out?"
"Yes. Ambulance were right behind them and since everyone was shot with the poison, they're all in separate rooms in the condition you're in. But... they shot Alex and Tony right away."
My eyes widened and I frowned. Too many people were dieing and I felt as if it were all my fault.
"Wait!" I growled, picking up my head again. "Where the fuck is Zoe?"
She sighed as a small tear ran down her face. I knew it couldn't be good. "We couldn't find her anywhere. Once the police showed up, everyone fled. And they took Zoe with them."
The moment my brain registered this, I tried standing up again but the dizziness took over again, and my mom helped me sit back down. "The police are doing everything they can to find her Hunter. And I PROMISE you that we will! You need to get some rest now though so you get enough energy to help."
"I can't rest while I don't know where she is!" I growled and sighed, seeing how my mother flinched at the roughness building up in my tone. "I'm sorry mom," I said, giving her an apologetic look. "Not just for this but for lieing to you about our relationship."
"Oh stop you know I don't hold grudges. That's in the past now!"
I smiled and kissed her forehead.
Zoe's POV.
My stomach was growling and my back ached. I found myself in an extremely comfortable bed, but the room was dark and I was afraid to open my eyes all the way. I didn't want to see something I didn't need to.
When I reached over to feel the spot where I had been stabbed, I felt a big bandage. I then noticed how the wounds from knives were cleaned out and there was no more dry crusty blood.
Suddenly, a door creaked open and I slammed my eyes shut to pretend I was sleeping again. The person walked over to me and set something down on a nightstand next to my head. They then sat down next to me and rubbed a piece of hair out of my face.
"Zoe," Brakes voice cooed and I grumbled, slowly opening my eyes. "Hey beautiful."
I glared up at him before noticing he had turned on a small lamp that only lit up part of the room. I noticed that there was a tray with a hamburger, some fries and a glass of water sitting next to the lamp.
I reached over to take a fry, but he snatched my wrist and pulled it away. "Ah, ah, ah," he smiled. "Give me a kiss first."
When I realized he was serious, I lyed back down and forgot about the food. There was no way I was kissing his dirty ass lips. They probably had some kind of disease! But then my stomach growled again and I held it tightly from the sudden pain. Maybe giving him a small peck wasn't so bad... I knew for a fact that I needed that food though.
My stomach rumbled again and I rolled my eyes. "All you have to do us give me a little kiss, and I'll let you eat."
My eyes wandered back to the food and I licked my lips, my mouth watering. Looking up at Brake with disgust, I was ready to sit up and kiss his lips when the door flung open and in walked Drake himself.
"Out," he ordered Brake and took his place on the bed. "Eat," he demanded towards me and I gladly snatched up the burger, and scoffed it down. "That was a stupid stunt you pulled today," he hissed and I didn't dare make eye contact. "But do you know why I kept you alive?"
I didn't answer and when I realized he wanted me to, I looked up and smiled slightly. "Because I may be your future daughter-in-law someday?"
"Don't be stupid!" he choked, laughing hysterically. "I don't even care about my own sons, what makes you think I would be nice to you because you may marry one of them?"
"Then why did you keep me alive?" I whispered, curious as to why.
"Because Zoe, you're pregnant."
