Chapter 29
I woke up with a terrified shriek and a loud crash coming from downstairs. Hunter looked at me with a shocked and worried expression as I sprung up from the bed and pulled open the bedroom door, rushing downstairs while holding my arms close to my chest from the harsh, cold air, nipping at my bare skin. It seemed like a door was open somewhere seeings how there was a small breeze.
As I ran down the stairs, I heard a set of foot steps behind me but ignored them as I entered the dark kitchen. I felt someone wet and sticky under my feet and jumped back from the sudden feeling, bumping into a hard chest as I did so. I quickly reached for the light switch and instantly wished I hadn't. The scene in front of me caused me to go into a state of uncomfortable shock as I looked down at the bloody mess.
There, on the kitchen floor lie my lovely grandparents, stabbed to death with shattered glass plates around them. I bent down slowly, my mouth hung open and my eyes almost popping from their sockets. I slowly and carefully reached for a piece of the plate and recognized it immediately. It was my grandmothers favorite dish which she always let me use when she'd make her famous spaghetti and meatballs. How the sauce would paint the whole plate but she still didn't care because that was how much she truly loved me.
After that, I felt sick to my stomach and knew none of this stress was good for the baby, and all went colder and black for me...

I was currently sitting on the couch in our living room with my hands placed on my lap. It's been a week since my grandparents death and I've barely spoken to anyone. I feel so empty inside and emotionless that it actually causes pain at times. I have nothing left. Only my brothers. No family. My parents sicken me, my aunt is dead, and now my wonderful grandparents are dead... and it's all Drakes fault.
After I had woken up that night, Hunter told me the news that there was a note saying we've been warned. He wants his money back, and if he doesn't get it, our baby is next.
The good news out of all of this is that my baby bump is finally showing. All I could really focus on at this point is my tiny baby growing inside of me. And I guess it's reminding me that not everything in this world is evil.
"Pack your things Zoe," Hunter suddenly growled as he stormed through the front door with his fists clenched in tight round balls at his sides. I turned my head and gave him a curious look, but he didn't even bother sparing me a glance as he marched up stairs, not looking back.
Sighing, I stood from the couch to follow him to the second floor, holding my stomach protectively as I went. I found his bedroom door was open a crack and I peeked through to find him shoving clothes and items randomly into a black suitcase that was placed on his bed. Hunter ran around the room and snatched items from his dresser or shelves and threw them in another bag. The whole time, he looked miserable. That is until he plopped down on his bed and sighed, smashing his face into his hands.
I rested my hands on his door and slowly entered after pushing it open. My boyfriend didn't even look at me. I gulped before sitting down next to him and gently placing my hand on his shoulder. He flinched at first but relax under my warmth and soon looked up from his hands. His face was red and his eyes were puffy. I kissed his cheek and he frowned deeply, giving me an apologetic look.
"We have to leave," he whispered. "I don't know where were going but we have to get out of here. We'll find a hotel or something that's close to a new doctor for the baby, and we'll figure out what were doing from there. The guys and Casey are coming but we need to leave tonight, so go pack the things you absolutely need!"
