•Chapter 2•

I sat back and took a drag from my cigarette as I stared through my apartment window.

Today seemed like it had gone on longer than accustomed.

I let my smoke linger as it puffed into the air, filling my lungs and nostrils as I waited for Gina to arrive.

Yeah, I get it.

I hear it all the time.

'A lady never smokes.'

"Well fuck it I'm a teenager." I'd always reply. I didn't care whether or not it was a good enough reason for you, because it sure was good enough for me.

I let my eyes roll back as I reclined back into my chair and took another drag. I'm actually pretty surprised I made it this long.

Sure my parents aren't around, but I still worked side jobs and babysat for Mrs. Tina (sometimes even for free considering how much I loved AJ). I still took my classes online and could afford this shithole of an apartment, so frankly, I thought I was doing pretty well.

Kicking my feet from beneath me, a rolled the chair back over to the computer to play a quick game of Solitaire but as I did, I heard a sharp knock at the door.

Upon opening it I held a deepseated smirk on my face, looking Gina over as I ushered her into the room.

"Guess you're way too cool for the secret knock now." I said, humor in my voice as I walked toward the kitchen to grab her a drink.

She smiled weakly, a short polite laugh slipping from her lips as I frowned.

"Ok. That's it. Gina, what the hell is wrong?" I asked as I came back, moving closer to where she stood.

The silence grew thick as her eyes studied mine, then she immediately burst into tears.

Her arms fell upon me as I caught her and held her as she cried. I wasn't good with words, so I didn't really say anything. I just held her as she sobbed, her tears dampening my mint colored David Bowie shirt.

We stayed in that position as I occasionally mumbled "It's okay" like I'd seen people do on movie screens.

But I knew it wasn't. Whatever this was, it was serious.

"Lola.. I think I'm pregnant." Gina finally uttered, gasping for air while backing off of me to note my reaction as we now faced each other.

The room felt dead as my eyes roamed. I laughed dryly and put away one of the shot glasses in my hand as well as the second bottle of vodka.

"Is it.. Jason's?" I wondered, pouring a shot from the first bottle and downing it immediately.

Gina watched me for a moment and then shook her head 'yes'.

I nodded, taking in the seriousness of the situation.

"I threw up yesterday and missed my period as well." She murmured, staring at the floor as she twiddled her shoes together.

I began walking toward my living room area which basically consisted of a couch, tv, desk and computer with wifi I continuously stole from the neighbors. Gina followed.

"Did you take the test?" I asked, my gaze intently fixed on her as she took a seat on the couch while avoiding my eyes.

"Not yet, my parents would kill if they ever knew I bought one. You know how they are." Her voice was trembling as it implicated itself with utmost sadness. She took a piece of her blonde hair and began pulling it in nervousness as her mind seemed to scurry about.
