I could not see the outside world from inside of the hidden dungeon that Oogie Boogie kept me in, but I knew it was raining. The rain pattered on the metal vents, making the tinny hollow sound echo throught the dungeon. I loved the sound of rain, it reminded me of the pitter-patter footsteps of toddlers.
The creaking of the cell door interrupted the sensation of nostalgia, the haughty Oogie Boogie standing in the entrance to my pitiful cell. In his hands, a package addressed to me. His mischievous pinprick eyes scanned over my figure, the horrors of what he was thinking unknown to me. Shifting closer to me, he grabbed my waist roughly - pushing me against the wall, straddling me. I cringed away from him in disgust, his snake tongue slithering against my throat, slime oozing down my skin.
"Let go of me," I demanded , struggling against him, fighting his powerful influence, "Let go!" Growling, Oogie Boogie stooped down to my level and nipped my neck, his teeth sinking into my flesh like tiny daggers. I cried out in agony. Oogie moaned against my skin, a smirk on his face as he released his teeth. My hand instinctively flew to the wound, a sticky warmth cascading from the mark. A scarlet tinge was present on my fingers as I brought it up from the mark, the same scarlet drenched on Oogie's lips. My knees threatened to buckle, but somehow I managed to stand. He chuckled darkly, his coarse hand lifting up my chin so that he could admire his handiwork. The wound looked out of place on my pale neck, a purplish bruise already forming on my skin. Oogie closed the distance between us, our lips only a hair's distance away.
"You may be a nominee for Pumpkin Queen, my sweet. But you will always be mine, now until eternity ends." Oogie chided darkly, "and the next time you think otherwise, you'll think of this mark as me marking my territory."
Oogie closed the gap, his lips dancing across mine, begging for entrance. I cringed from the irony taste on my lips, my own blood. Tired of waiting for entrance, he pulled my hair back, making me gasp in pain. His snaked tongue exploring every inch of my mouth. I remained still and unresponsive, waiting for him to finish. It seemed like ages since he broke apart, but once he did feelings of nausea hit my stomach. I crumpled to the bed in shame, curling myself into a foetal position.
"You will always be mine, baby girl." His taunting voice echoed through her brain, "here's the package that Town Hall sent for you." He placed a package on my bed, his gallantry smirk obvious in his tone. Tears slipped from my eyes as I buried my face into a pillow, wanting nothing more than to smother myself for the shame I felt. The cell door slammed on its hinges, alerting me of Oogie Boogie's exit.
Eyes still hazy from unspilt tears with my cheeks stinging from the shards of tears cutting my face, I pulled the large package closer to where I lay. My mind was still reeling from adrenaline as I wripped open the crimson package.
It was filled with everything I would need for the competition. Inside was a colourless outfit ; a skin-tight all-black jumpsuit with armour-like padding on the shoulders, knees, torso and bust, as well as a sturdy-looking pair of boots. A weapon glinted in the low-light of the cell, a beautiful dagger, its hilt depicted with the face of a skeleton. Tied neatly to the blade was a piece of parchment. I unwrapped the roll of parchment and opened it, my eyes glancing over the ornate handwriting that I instantly recognised as Jack's.
Dear (Y/n),
I'm sorry that it has come to this, that you must be constantly in danger because of this studious competition. I don't wish harm on you, and I never will. I hope you'll take this enclosed dagger wisely, because when you carry it you will carry the soul of Halloween Town with you as well. I don't wish you luck, I wish you so many other things : courage, wit, intelligence, adaptability. Nothing is ever as it seems, (Y/n), keep that in mind when you do these tasks.
I miss you.
Regards,
Jack Skellington
