Writers

Unfortunately, a lot of writers on here don't give themselves enough credit. I'm guilty of falling under that category. It's because they feel discouraged. There are many reasons as to why, but I think I'll name only some.

Most writers feel discouraged when they don't get readers right away. If you're that kind of writer, let me tell you something.

When I first wrote My Bad, I didn't get readers right away either. In fact, I didn't care whether I had readers or not. You know why? Because I wrote the story for myself (which is why it's so random and doesn't really make any sense whatsoever). Posting the book publicly onto Wattpad, Quotev, and AO3 was just something extra. I liked the story, therefore I continued writing it. People didn't start finding my story until I was six chapters into the book. I honestly never thought anyone would find my story, and I also never thought so many would like it either.

I'm not saying the way I went will lead you to being discovered by more people. I'm giving an example--I started at zero and made my way to the top.

You shouldn't feel like you're writing for the readers. They read and they should give you some feedback, like what they liked about the story so far or what you can improve on. If someone gives you some pointers on writing, don't feel discouraged. They're trying to help you be the best writer you can be.

Most writers feel discouraged when they see other authors getting more reads, votes, and comments on their stories.

You shouldn't care about other authors when it comes to your works. First of all, you shouldn't even think about who's the better person. You should think about how you can be the best that you can be.

And don't tell me you can't be the best, because that, my friend, is a type of negativity that'll demotivate you from doing anything.

Those authors with more reads, votes, and comments all started at the bottom and they're making their way to the top. Everyone's going a different paces and everyone starts at different times. No one is the same.

It takes time for people to find your stories. Not a second. Not a minute. Not an hour. Not a day. Not a week. It simply takes time. Some people will take longer to be discovered. Some will take a short amount of time. But everyone will get there if they keep on going.

You can ask other people to read your stories if you want--it's definitely an option--but I personally would not go that way. I let people find my stories on their own, because if they want to read it, then they'll read it.

But if I'm being honest, there's no wrong way to write anything. There's no right way to being discovered either. It'll come to you. It'll come to everyone. It depends on how hard you're willing to work for it and it will take time.

If you're a writer who's struggling to be discovered, don't feel stressed. Don't feel sad, don't feel mad, don't feel anything negative. Remember, the only person you should be writing for is yourself. Posting your stories online is a way to show your imagination to the world. No one's obligated to read your stories. They choose to do it. Like how you're not obligated to write stories for anyone. You write because you want to and it makes you feel good.

If none of these help and writing actually makes you more stressed out than feel good, then take a break. Or if you want to discontinue writing instead, that's fine as well. Your well-being is far more important than anything. If writing doesn't make you feel comfortable or happy, then either take a break or don't write at all.

Now, I feel like there may be some flaws and errors in this part, but please don't take anything negatively. I'm trying to help and I hope this helped motivate you when it comes to writing in some way. If not, that's okay. I won't be offended. But if it makes you not want to write at all, then I send my strongest apologies for that.

I hope you are all having a wonderful life so far (:
