The pressure was real. There was so much being placed on me at once and I have learned that it is not going to get any easier. I know that I must stay strong though because there where many people looking towards me for guidance now. I had to show them that they could put their trust in me just as much as I put my trust in them.
"Are you sure you want to address them right now?" Tyler asked as he came to my side. He placed his hand on my lower back and glanced over me with concern. I told him the news as soon as the conversation was over and he was surprised, but a good surprised. He told me that he had done major thinking while I was gone and that he was not going to doubt me anymore.
"This is something that I have to do," I replied, glancing over at him. "I want them to know that I will not be a coward who hides behind their fighters. I want them to put all their trust in me because I know that I would want that from my leader."
I could hear the crowd forming outside the doors, everyone chatting about the sudden meeting. They all knew that something had happened but they did not know if it was good or bad. I suddenly starting to think, what if they do not accept me as their leader? Was I actually good enough to lead them... would they accept the half wolf girl?
"Time to go," Tyler whispered, pushing me slightly towards the door.
I let out a deep breath and grabbed the door, pushing it open. I tried to calm the shake that was in my hands and squinted when the bright sun attacked me suddenly. I looked around at the people and tried to pick out my family. I could see my mother standing with my father and Claire off in the distance.
"Can you tell us what is happening?" A woman shouted from the crowd.
I tried to search for her through all the faces but if she was there she was not giving any sign that it was her. "Yes, I have some news that I would like to share with you all if you wouldn't mind." I went silent for a moment, gathering my thoughts.
"We are here for you, take your time!" My mother shouted from the crowd. There were murmur of agreements and suddenly I felt a little better. The smile on her face was giving me a sudden boast of confidence and it was nice, she may not have been there my whole life but it felt like she was.
"I have been appointed leader." I started off strong. "I know that must be a lot for you all to take in but I want you to know that I am here for you all! I have accepted the role and I want you to know that you can place your trust in me." I looked at a few of the people at the front of the crowd and smiled at them.
They all looked around at each other, uncertainty hit me like a train. They were all whispering in hushed tones and this was what made me nervous. They acted like they didn't know how to react to the news, as though Alpha Chase was going to come and save them from my ranting.
"Look at me," I ordered them softly. "I know you may not believe that I will be able to protect you. The truth is that I really won't be able to... but that doesn't mean that I will not try with every fiber in my being to make sure that you will have someone there if I can't get to you in time." I pointed to the person in front of me. "You have a pack... those pack members are standing around you at this very moment. I do believe that they would protect you in your times of need just as I would. I would lay my life on the line for every single person standing before me."
People started to nod their heads, small smiles forming on their lips. The whispers were growing louder and so was my confidence.
"We are family!" I yelled out. "We will fight as a family and we will win as a family! I will not let this man take away the freedom of anymore people! He has manipulated and threated so many people throughout his life and I am done living with this fear laying over our heads!"
They started to yell, throwing their hands in the air.
"I know you guys are tired of it too! I know that we are all fighting for the same thing and I want you guys to trust me as we go into this fight because I know that I will be expecting you all to look after your friends." I felt the butterflies flying in my stomach and it was a nice feeling. "We will take on this threat will confidence and trust because that is what werewolves do! We trust our packs! We trust our family! We trust our loyalty!"
"I trust you Lucy!" Claire screamed out, throwing her fist into the air. She smiled widely at me and nodded her head. Claire believed in me from the beginning and I was so glad to have her friendship, I was so glad that I was able to meet her that very first day.
"I trust Lucy!" Tyler screamed out from beside me, throwing his fist into the air with Claire. He was not smiling fully but the corners of his lips were turned up. I could tell he was proud of me and I was so glad I had this amazing man in my life just like I was glad I had Claire.
"I trust Lucy!" The crowd started chanting as they one by one began to throw their fists up. They all had their eyes on me and there was no longer any doubt but full on happiness. They were actually happy I was their leader... To be honest I am over here thinking about how lucky I am to have those certain people but I truly know I am lucky to have all these people.
"Down with Victor!" I scream, join them by throwing my fist up. I scanned over the screaming crowd and knew that this was it. We had finally reached the point where we would be going into battle soon and that I would not have to worry. They all trusted each other know and they would protect their family to the best of their abilities.
"Down with Victor!" They all began chatting in replacement of the past chant. They all had looks of determination on their faces as they started to break apart, ready to get back to their training with a new sense of motivation.
"That was such a lovely speech honey," my mother complimented as she walked up to me. "I knew that you were going to be destine for great things when I first saw you." She started to tear up and pulled me into a hug. "I am so sorry that I was not there for you like I should have been."
I wrapped my arms around her tightly and closed my eyes. "Mom, you were always there for me. Maybe not in person but I always thought about you... you lived in my heart. I know you had your reasons."
I pulled away from the hug and caught something moving from the corner of my eye. I shot my head in the direction of the movement and saw something disappear into the trees. I felt the rage making its way up and I slowly started to walk towards it. My walk soon turned into a run and the rage had taken over. There was someone spying on our meeting and if they get back to Victor before I get to him, the element of surprise will be gone.
I raced forward, easily dodging trees and soon found myself catching up to the intruder. I grabbed onto his tail and yanked him backwards, flinging his body into the nearest tree. I slowed down and turned to face the wolf. He looked surprised but would not move, he looked reluctant unlike the others that came.
"Why would you risk your life coming here," I asked dangerously as I started to approach him. I had my fists curled up and my red eyes set on his every movement. "You will not make it back to Victor I am afraid," I taunted lowly, making sure I kept my breathing in check so I wouldn't snap his neck.
He shook his head and soon his bones began to break, shifting into their human form. "Lucy wait!"
I gasped and covered my mouth, suddenly finding it much harder to control the rage and emotions swirling inside of me. I grabbed the naked man in front of me and slammed him into the tree. "Why are you here Sam!?"
