Chapter 7- What are feelings?
I walked back into the house, laughing at the comment Claire made about their back porch. She was a talker, I swear the whole way around the territory as they call it she wouldn’t let me get a word in. I didn’t mind of course, I don’t like talking but I knew she was going to be one of my closest friends if I didn’t lose my mind before this ended.
“So how was your walk?” Ginger asked, sipping on her cup of coffee. She smiled at me and placed her cup down before walking over to Claire, pulling her into her side. “I hope this girl didn’t talk your ear off, she has a tendency to do that.”
Claire rolled her eyes and shrugged her arm off her shoulder.
“I enjoyed listening to her,” I said with a small smile on my face. I glanced around the room, there was a dip in my stomach when I saw that Tyler was not in here. Has he really been in his room all day? “Hey has Tyler been down?” I asked, glancing around at everyone.
They all frowned slightly and shook their heads. Of course he wouldn’t…
I turned and walked out of the room, slowly making my way up the stairs. My heart was pounding and all I could think of was why in the world was Tyler thinking like this? Why is he so depressed? Was it because of me or was it because of my mom…
I walked up to his door and placed my ear against it, hoping to hear something. “Tyler?” I called out, waiting for a reply. I twisted the knob but the door was locked which was slightly annoying. “Tyler, stop acting like this and let me in.” I demanded, banging my fist against the wooden barrier that kept me from him.
Seconds later the door swung open and a very messed up looking Tyler came into view. He had bags under his eyes and the stench of alcohol was overwhelming. “What do you want?” he slurred, leaning his body against the doorframe.
“What have you done to yourself?” I asked, taking him all in. I grabbed his arm and pushed him back into his room, laying him down on his bed. “Tyler this is disappointing…” I reached out and grabbed some of the bottles that layed around the room.
He sat up and grabbed one that was on his nightstand. “You look great Lucy…” Putting the bottle up to his lips he took a swig. “I never told you this but I have always had a crush on you!”
I felt my heartbeat picking up slightly as I paused for a moment. This couldn’t be happening, this was all the alcohol talking, not Tyler. He does not even like me more than a sister, he told me that… “Tyler you are drunk,” I muttered as I began to clean up his room once more.
