Chapter 6- The Exposure

To put it in the simplest of terms, last night was the worst night of my life. While we walked back to the car my shoe decided to break, causing me to roll my ankle. The whole process was very painful, I didn't realize how bad it hurt until we started walking again after I rejected Tyler's offer of help. He ended up carrying me…

We then arrived at the motel where we checked in and had to sleep in the only room that was available… a one bed bedroom. We fought over the bed for about an hour before I came out victorious thanks to my swollen ankle. That didn't help though because the fear was still taking over my body, the thought of the vicious side of Tyler made me want to scream and run.

I looked over at the clock and noticed it was now six in the morning, all signs of sleeping just flew out the window. Sitting up I looked over the edge of the bed and saw Tyler curled up in a ball with the blanket thrown to the side. He looked so peaceful when he slept, some how still managing to look amazing.

I scooted to the side and got up, walking over to the closet to grab my robe, hoping that there would at least be a vending machine somewhere. I quietly grabbed my room key and looked over my shoulder once more at the sleeping lump before sneaking out.

“Vending machine, vending machine…” I muttered lowly to no one as I looked down the abandoned hallways for the rectangle filled with yummy sweets. This place was horrible, who seriously does not own a single machine? They don’t sell breakfast or any other meal here and they wonder why they don’t receive any customers. I bet people would rather travel another hundred miles to find a decent place with food.

I smiled when I caught sight of a package of m&ms sitting in what I was searching for. I skipped over to it and placed my dollar in the machine, waiting for it to accept it. Sadly it didn't and spit it back out at me, causing me to let out a string of curse words. Stupid dollar bills, stupid motel, stupid hunger.

I grabbed the dollar and started rubbing it against the corner of the machine, straightening it out before sticking it back in. Finally it accepted it and I punched in the digits, excitedly waiting for the peanut m&ms to fall to the bottom.

A shuffle noise came from behind me and I shot around to see what it was. There was nothing there, and with experience from my incident with Sam I knew something was up. I kept my eyes trained on the opening ahead of me as I slowly reached in and grabbed my snack, not wanting to leave it behind.
