Chapter 3 - You Checked Me Out!

As the day grew closer to the end I found myself enjoying it ten times more than usual. The bullying had stopped and soon people looked at me with awe, should I be a little worried… yes. Though the attention was sort of appealing it was also making me nervous.

The group of guys that were in my first period where everywhere as it seemed. Their eyes never left me as the coldness made me want to shrivel up into nothing. Not only has the strange guys lurking behind every corner seem out of the ordinary, Tyler was stiffer than wood.

Lunch time rolled around and I found Tyler, he seemed ok at first but then suddenly when he noticed creepy gang boys his whole mood changed. The light and happy ball of energy that I talked to this morning was no longer there, he was replaced with a very quiet… distant guy.

The only good thing that came from this whole day was seeing Sam the way he made me feel. No matter how much my insides were screaming at me this was wrong, my head said otherwise along with my heart. Soul mates my butt, he crushed me to the point where suicide was an option. That option was something that I had to take therapy for, up until this year to be clear.

I walked over to my locker and turned the dial, opening it with ease. Searching for my binders for homework I couldn’t help but look around me. I saw Sam walking by, his posture hanging as his eyes locked with mine as though he was wishing for me to change my mind. Breaking the eye contact I switched to the other side of me, catching the group of guys standing in the distance… What is their problems?

“Hey Lucy,” Tyler greeted, leaning up against my locker.

I jumped slightly and brought my eyes back over to Tyler. His whole body was still stiff from what I could tell and it was slightly annoying. “Hey, you know this whole day has been a little weird.” I grabbed my books and slammed my locker closed.

He took some of the books from me and started walking towards the door. “What do you mean?” He looked over at the guys as we passed but didn’t say anything to them, as if they were having a silent staring match.

“Well for starters, you.”

He shot his head back around, “Me?”

I nodded. “Yeah, you seemed ok this morning and then by lunch time when you saw those boys who look like they belong in a gang… your whole mood changed.” I shoved the front door open and took a deep breath of the fresh air as the sunlight hit my skin. Yay, I finally get to leave this dump. Nerd or not I still hated this school so much I could just catch it on fire…
