I grabbed Jays hand and teleported us to the Lake of the Dead which was in the Death Realm. I was positive Death wouldn't mind me being here. Now that I think about it, he was probably in on this thing as well.
We stood on pure white pebbles that made up the shore to the black water of the lake.
"Where are we now? I'm pretty sure this isn't Earth," Jay said and peered at the water.
"We're in the Death Realm, the owner being Death himself," I told him and kneeled down by the water.
I saw Jay look at the sky only to black and white swirled and mixed around randomly to make funny patterns in the sky.
"Why is everything black and white?" Jay asked.
"Besides the fact Death actually is a white skeleton with a black cloak, he sees things in a black and white sort of manner. You either have a corrupted soul and come here or you go somewhere else. He doesn't really dwell upon the huge grey area that's heaven, hell, hades and everything else you can think of," I explained and cut my finger to reveal blood.
"Why are you giving blood?"
I held the finger over the water and watched a drop fall into the water. As it hit the water, the red turned white.
"You can't talk to the dead without giving something in return. You can't take water without giving something in return. Blood is very precious, as I'm sure I've told you before."
Jay nodded stiffly in reply. I made a large glass bottle appear in my hands then filled it to the brim with the black water.
"Now, we can go and finally talk to Liam," I said and grabbed Jays hand again.
Just before we teleported out of the realm, I thought I saw a figure waving at us from a distance. Putting that note aside, I teleported us to a shed in the backyard of a random house.
"Why here?" Jay asked.
"No ones home. In the shed because just in case someone comes to the house. I doubt it but its good to take precautions," I replied and lit the room up in an orb of orange fire.
I scanned the shed for a bucket and found one in the corner. Grabbing it and placing it on the table in the middle of the shed, I tipped the water in and my mind had only thoughts about talking to Liam.
Not long after, Liam's face appeared in the water as if it were a reflection. He blinked a couple of times then he seemed to move forward and stand on the water. His body was attached to the black water through fine silvery strands on water.
He looked at me as if bored then held in a yawn.
"What do you want Renee?" He muttered.
I frowned at him. "What do you know? Tell me everything you know," I said.
His eyes widened then had a knowing glint in them.
"Ah. So you have seen the halfer I guess? Well, we couldn't trust her to keep her mouth shut," he mumbled to himself as he fingered one of the silver threads attached to the centre of his chest.
"Tell me everything Liam. Don't leave anything out. I've already spoken to Remzor and he doesn't scare me."
Liam smiled. "Everything's going to plan. Couldn't trust the halfer without plan but it doesn't matter now," he muttered to himself then slowly glanced up to meet my eyes. "You know, even though I'm dead and supposedly meant to see the dark side of things, I still think your cute. Even when you are so disadvantaged like this."
Jay snarled from beside me. I looked over my shoulder at him and shook my head once at him.
"Lucille was good in telling me anything she could, unlike you and Remzor and who knows who else," I stated simply.
Liam nodded to himself with his eyes half closed. "It's a nice name, I guess. She is one of a kind and her demon side comes out more. Lucille is like a female version of Lucifer," he said to himself.
I rolled my eyes. "I know that. Just tell me about what's meant to happen."
Liam looked at the water he stood in and scooped some into his hand. The water in his hand shook with ripples then fell into the bucket again.
"The Higher-Ups are coming. They will talk to you. I think it's best that you bow to them at their arrival so you don't lose another family member," he said, glanced at me and Jay with a smirk then we watched his body collapse back into a water form into the bucket.
"Damn. What were we meant to get from that conversation?" Jay muttered.
"That the Gods are coming and it isn't going to be fun," I replied, pouring the water back into the bottle.
"How about we practice anything and everything before we see them? Just so that we can fight if it comes to that," Jay suggested.
I nodded and stepped out of the shed, a sword, not made from my other forms claws, appearing in my hand.
In the backyard, I was five paces away from Jay when his own sword appeared in his hand.
I smiled as a signal to begin and leapt at Jay. He swiftly dodged then immediately retaliated with a slash of his own sword.
Surprisingly, Jay held his own for quite a while, even against some of my more complicated attacks, which I admit I used a bit of my powers with.
I stopped when the time showed 3:30am from the moon and was impressed to see that Jay had improved so much.
Not long after we stopped fighting, we heard a car pull up in the driveway to the house.
Weapons now gone, I grabbed Jay and pulled him into the shed then locked the door.
"Why are we hiding instead of teleporting?" He whispered.
"It's more fun this way, don't you think?"
"I think the car driver is a doctor or something. It would explain why they returned this early," Jay stated.
I nodded in agreement.
"Did you want to leave?" I asked and held his hand.
"Sure. I don't want to spend my day in here when I could be outside," he said. "I just have a good feeling about today."
We disappeared out of the shed and into the woods.
"Let's go for a walk up the mountain," I suggested and he complied.
As we were walking through, I looked at the trees around me and they were nearly transparent like a hologram and seemed to have glittering dust floating around it. It seemed like all the plants were like that. I frowned internally but kept walking up the mountain.
Situated at the top was a lookout that showed a nice view of the town. Again, everything seemed off. Almost hazy, like the trees.
"It's nice up here," Jay murmured and collapsed onto the wooden bench.
I sat next to him and smirked when he put his arm around my shoulders.
"It is nice," I agreed.
Time passed swiftly and we watched the sun set and get replaced by a red moon.
"Do you still feel good about today?" I asked.
"No. Not anymore. It feels like a bad day now."
I glanced from the moon and Jays dark eyes then I saw a flash of white.
My attention snapped to an approaching Remzor and I pulled Jay to me.
"What do you want now?" I snapped.
He lifted a white eyebrow then cleared his throat. "I'd like to introduce the Council of Gods."
Darkness swept over us but we could still easily see the ring of thrones that appeared around us.
