The rest of the day, after I threatened Lucas, was spent with me reading through the folders I got from Joe and Harry. I knew everything already but it kept my anger at bay, so I didn't go back and kill him. One thing I hated was people touching me, even if they were a supernatural. That night I decided to not sleep. I was too worked up. I ended up sitting outside for the whole night, just staring forward. When the sun came up, I stared at the rising sun for a few moments before going inside, showering and putting on jeans, a black-coloured t-shirt with long sleeves and black converse. I ran a brush through my hair then put my dagger into my shoe, next to my ankle and securing it with a strap.
I slung a bag over my shoulder, another dagger in the lining of the bag, and walked outside, the house locked and the security gate locked behind me. I walked towards the school, knowing it would take a while for me to get there at human speed. I didn't care though. I was walking across a bridge that went over a river when I saw a familiar car driving past. When it got over the bridge, it pulled over and stopped. I clenched my hands tightly so my nails dug into my palms and quickly walked pass the car.
The car door opened, then slammed closed and footsteps came after me.
"wait, Renee!" Lucas called and ran after me.
I walked faster. I wasn't meant to run away. I was meant to run up and join his group. But wasn't this a way to get closer to him?
"wait up. Please Renee," he pleaded and the footsteps got closer to me.
He appeared in front of me which made me stop.
He went to grab my arm, but I moved my arm quickly out of the way.
"don't touch me. Ever," I snarled at him, moving my leg quickly and tripping him.
He was sprawled on his back, looking confused and scared.
"now, I'm going to walk to the school, unless you really want to be a gentleman and give me a lift without touching me, so make up your mind in five seconds," I told him, stepping back so that he had plenty of room to get up.
"I'll give you a lift," he said, his tone sounding forced but my eyes told me otherwise.
I nodded and gracefully climbed into the passenger seat. A second later, Lucas got it, started the car and drove us to school.
"I think you might be right," he muttered suddenly, breaking the silence.
"how so?"
"you are complicated."
I smirked. "and what makes you think that?"
"well, your emotions," he said, shrinking away from me ever so slightly.
I laughed softly. There wasn't anything complicated based on my emotions, I don't think. I frowned. Why was this guy making me suddenly think about my emotions? I've never had to think hard about them.
"see, right there," he said glancing at me. "you went from threatening to laughing to frowning."
Where did he get all this courage from? Didn't he realize I held a dagger to his throat yesterday?
I sighed. "maybe your right, maybe your wrong," I said quietly, looking out the window into the bright sky, which didn't seem to erase the cold, not that I cared. I could walk outside in snow, hail and cold wind while wearing shorts and a tank top and I still wouldn't care.
The rest of the ride was silent. When Lucas pulled up into the school parking lot, I got a mental image of where every class room was and knew all of my classes.
Looking around the parking lot, I saw there were plenty of people already here.
"you finally made it man," one of Lucas' pack members and friend said to him.
