3 Months Later
You know when your having fun and you don't realize the time that's passed because you can care less? That's what happened to me. Today I finally noticed the day and saw it had been three months since Greg had contacted me.
I had gotten close with Liam but he never tried to pull anything on me, luckily. He was like the human brother I never had.
Then, one day, I woke up and I went to the beach with Liam and the others. I had a shower, brushed my hair and tied it up in a ponytail. I got dressed in an ocean blue two piece with a singlet and shorts over the top.
Just as I finished getting ready, Liam knocked on the door three times. I answered it straight away.
"hey," he said with a smile.
"hey. Do you want to go now?" I asked him.
He nodded, waited for me to lock up then we walked to the beach.
"the girls want to play volleyball again," he said and made a face.
I laughed at him. About three times a week, we got together and played volleyball at the beach. Girls always won thanks to me.
"aw, poor Liam is sad his team keeps losing," I cooed as we eventually saw the vast ocean.
He made a face. "I'm not a baby. Anyway, I was thinking of mixing up the teams this time. So it's a bit fairer."
"on the guys?" I teased.
"no, on you girls," he said with a huff.
I laughed lightly as we went down the small hill and found everyone from the group.
The net was set up already and the guys were practicing while the girls lounged around talking about who was with who. I didn't really care.
Liam left me and went to the guys while I went to the girls group and asked them if they wanted to split up into mixed teams.
"sure. But I want to be on your team Ren," one said.
They all started saying that they wanted to be on my team so I laughed lightly. "okay then. Girls against guys again I guess."
They nodded. I stood up and went over to Liam while the girls continued gossiping.
"hey Liam. It's girls versus boys, alright?" I said to him while he just nodded.
We took another couple of minutes to relax then rounded everyone up to play.
I served the ball first and, the guys still not knowing any of my tactics, missed and I got the first goal.
Ten minutes into the game everyone had made enough goals so that I was up for serving again. Just as I was about to hit the ball, I swore I saw a face I recognized and completely stuffed the shot up.
"what the hell?" I muttered quietly to myself.
I looked around for the face again and saw it under a tree, out of the sun, at the top of the sand hill.
"uh, can I call timeout, break whatever?" I asked.
"thank god!" someone exclaimed and sat down.
"what's wrong Ren?" Liam asked when he got closer to me.
"old friend. Um, I'll be back alright Liam?" I said and glanced between him and the figure.
"yeah, sure, whatever. If you need me, scream alright?"
I nodded and ran at human speed to the figure.
I slowed down five meters away from them and stopped at a meter distance.
