"Mom..." his voice trailed off.

His mother's eyes teared up and the little boy squeezed his mother's hand tightly.

His mom, she was beautiful. Her hair had no hint of white, she looked so young and pretty. I could see where he got the eyes from.

They both fell into a hug and his mom had tears falling down her cheeks.

Should I be here? Should I leave?

"Mom, this is Selena...my..." he pulled away and looked at me confused. He gave me a look that read 'Should I tell her that we're together?'

"Girlfriend. I'm Justin's girlfriend," I smiled, proud to say that.

"Oh, You're so gorgeous!"  She smiled warmly and pulled me into a cozy hug. I liked this woman already. "I'm Pattie, Justin's mom."

"It's so nice to meet you!" I responded.

"Hey buddy," Justin bent down to reach his brother's height.

The little boy, Jaxon, shyly shot him a smile. He was so adorable! His blond hair was messy and he looked so tired.

"I'll go make us something to eat," I smiled awkwardly and walked back into the house. I don't think Justin would want to still go out and eat. And if he did, then I wouldn't agree to it.

Justin shot me a smile as I walked away. I loved seeing him with his family. It felt good to see him like this.

I looked through the cabinets, trying to find something suitable to eat. This boy really needs to go grocery shopping more.

Finally, I spotted an uncooked bag of pasta and pulled it off the shelf.

This will have to do for now.

"Do you want me to help?" Pattie's voice startled me.

"Oh, no it's fine! You must be so tired, you should get some rest."

"Are you sure? I can cut up some vegetables..."

"Yeah, well I bet Justin doesn't have any vegetables in the fridge either way. He normally eats out," I laughed, surprised to see her join me.

"Well, I'll be out in the living room if you need me," she smiled and walked off.

After I finished cooking, I filled all of our plates. After bringing the food to the table, I called out to Justin and told him the food was ready.

I was nervously sat on the chair as he and his family made their way to the food.

Oh god, what if his mom doesn't like the food I made? What if Jaxon pukes because it's so bad. Or even worse, what if I forgot to put salt?

Okay I was over thinking this. This was going to be fine and fun.

"It's very yummy, mommy," Jaxon said, food still in his mouth.

"You should tell that to Selena. She's the one who cooked it," Pattie shot me a smile.

Jaxon looked at me shyly and then turned his attention back to the food. I wish he would talk to me, I didn't want him to be shy around me.

"I'm glad you like the pasta, I made it specially for you," I winked at him. Was I trying too hard?

"Well so what courses are you studying?" she asked.

I swallowed my food, "Well I am into Science and English. I want to do something with the study of the brains."

"Ew, brains?" Justin asked me.

"Maybe something like...a therapist. To become one, I have to know how the brain works, in order to read people's expressions and to understand how they are feeling."

"That's interesting. I've never heard that before," He laughed. "You're very unusual..."

His mother shot him a warning look, it was actually really funny.

"I mean I totally support you and all but that's the first time I heard something like that. Normally girls want to a teacher or a doctor, you know?"

"Now that's just stereotypical!" I cheekily remarked.

Pattie started to laugh, making me and Justin step out of our silly conversation.

Justin and Pattie started to talk about some of their old family friends...I was confused so I just focused on eating. After everyone was done eating, I washed all the dishes.

Since Jaxon and Pattie were tired, they decided to get some rest. Justin helped me make some cookies for them to eat later on today.

"Get the baking soda," I demanded.

"The what?"

"The baking-"

"I don't think I have that. I don't do baking and shit when I'm alone."

I sighed, "Right, now what?"

"Let's go grab some cookies from the store," he smirked.

"If we're going out, we might as well just buy some baking soda."

"Alright, let's go," he agreed and then took my hand in his in instance.
