Author's Note:
So I was looking through my comments from the beginning of this book and stuff, and I realized that there were so many comments that I didn't reply back to. But most of them are from like 2013 and stuff, so I was kinda embarrassed. Gosh darn it! I'm bad at this.
Also, I'm thinking of editing this book as I write. I also realized that I should have wrote the entire book first then posted it. Life would have been so much easier then, for me and the you guys who are reading it. I am really really really sorry for putting you guys through this torture. Next time, I'll write and complete first.
Also, I feel like I owe you guys am apology, because I promised to update every week, but I have never fulfilled that promise even once. I understand if many of you are angry with me for that. I'll try to make it up by updating whenever I can, but please don't be mad at me if I forget to update (Like now).
Anyway, without further ado. I love you guys for sticking with me even though I suck, and I present to you... Chapter 26.
P.S. HAPPY NEW YEARS!!!!

"Over here," I whispered urgently. We all dove under the cover of the bushes. We pressed our bodies as close to the ground as possible. With our hearts in our throats, we watched the wolves hungrily search for us. Yes, they were wolves. But not normal wolves. They were very human like as well. As if they were once human, but then they were turned into wolves. I was so scarily fascinated by these creatures that I didn't notice someone sneak up behind me until it was too late. With lightning speed, he grabbed me. He held me firmly and covered my mouth, making it impossible to escape. Yedana and Tom were in similar situations. Still I struggled against his hold with all my might.
"You better stop it, princess 'cause I would hate to break that pretty neck of yours," he growled creepily into my ear. I shivered unwillingly and went limp. They carried us all the way to a cave on the top of a tall mountain in the middle of the forest which was hidden under a darkness that seemed to cover the entire forest. They did it in a matter of seconds with out loosening their grip on us even the tiniest fraction. Once reached, they threw us into a cave which was strangely light up brightly. We went flying and stopped millimeters short of hitting the cave wall. As we slowly sat up, I noticed human feet. I looked up to find humans standing where the wolves once were. One of them was looking longingly at Yedana, but Yedana would not meet his eyes. I examined that one meticulously, but I couldn't remember seeing him at all. All of a sudden the people parted, and out walked in a very tall man. He was very hairy but insanely muscular. The man was very shabby looking like he hasn't taken a bath or shaved in years. He had brown hair that was unruly and untamed. It was just a mess. The scariest thing about him, however, was his eyes and his smile. His eyes were a piercing yellow like he was examining every part of you and he won't miss even the smallest detail about you. He also had a wolfy grin like he couldn't wait to bit your neck. I shivered again involuntarily.
"Why hello Miss Cynthia! How nice of you and your friends to drop by and visit!" he growled, with his voice dripping with sarcasm and a fake smile plastered on his face. 'His voice...' I thought 'it sounds so familiar...'
I gasped as I realized.
"You-you're-you're," I stuttered wide-eyed.
"Enunciate Miss Cynthia!" he mocked, "or should I call you princess. Which one do you prefer?" He smirked as I gulped, trying to swallow the fear that was rising up my throat. I tried to stand, but ended up falling from a sharp pain in the side of my hip from where I was roughly handled by those wolves. Yedana and Tom quickly crawled to my side.
"Careful Miss Cynthia, we don't want you to get hurt...yet," he sneered at my weak state. I leaned up against the cave wall with my eyes closed. I felt like crying, just giving up. I felt so dang weak! Why was I chosen to be a Dite?! What can I do?! I'm only twelve! How can a freaking twelve year old save the entire freaking universe?! I felt like just screaming and pulling my hair out.
"Aww, look, the baby is crying!" mocked one of the werewolves in a baby voice. I suddenly realized that silent tears were rolling down my face. But I didn't care. It was all over any way.
"Is Baby going to go running to her mommy now?" asked the same person.
"Shut up, Boetius!" Yedana growled threateningly, "No one asked you, you jerk!" My eyes flew open, and stared at Yedana surprised. She wasn't one to yell at someone else even if they made fun of her. She was quiet and reserved and would let them hurt her. The guy she yelled at looked pretty shocked too. Like he knew that she usually isn't like this. I noted that that was the same guy that looked at her longingly when we first came into the cave. I could literally see the growing tension between Yedana and Boetius - as she had called him.
"I see, young lady, you had met the wonderful person who made Lycaon Kingdom possible," said the man who just loves to call me Miss Cynthia. He seemed to be the leader of the pack.
"Who are you? And what do you want?" Tom demanded from the other side of me. He sounded unafraid but I bet deep inside he is scared as well. I scolded myself for being weak once more. Why can't I be brave and be there for my friends. They're standing up for me, and I'm over here and I can't even stand up! I feel like dead weight! I'm just holding them back.
"Who am I?" the man replied back acting astonished "Who am I?! I am Lycaon! The First Werewolf, the one who was banished from his homeland, the one who tricked a foolish prince and was given the entire kingdom as his prize. That is all me. I'm humbly at your service, my dear Sir," the man introduced himself, with a mocking bow towards Tom. At the mention of the foolish prince, Boetius growled lightly as if it was an unpleasant memory.
"As to what I want that can be explained by what you want," he ended sinisterly, staring right into the depths of my soul with his creepy wide eyes. I squirmed a little, uncomfortable under his judging stare. Seeing this, he smirked, his eyes twinkling with mischief and went on.
"You, if I am correct, want this pretty thing right here, am I right?" Lycaon said with an air of superciliousness as he looked at the head of his staff which he had held in his hand. The head was actually not a head. Instead, it was a hand. A hand who's fingers were loose but tight at the same time. The kind of hand position that wizards make when doing magic without a wand but using their own hands. It had a very magical feel to it, but also one with power. It was a coal black, and looked burnt and bruised like it was misused. It was connected to a staff that was pitch black as well and painted with strange symbols in white paint . Lycaon was holding it the entire time while he was in this cave, I just didn't pay attention to it much because I was too focused on his appearance.
"Haha, oh who am I kidding?" Lycaon replied to his own question with a cynical laugh. My eyes snapped up from where they were fixed on the hand to meet Lycaon's eyes. He crept closer and closer to me like a predator approaching it's prey. "I am always right." Lycaon finished as he got right up in my face. He bent over and stared right into my eyes, his face blank and menacing, and his eyes examining every inch of my face. I pressed my body flat up against the wall, trying to make space between me and him. Seeing how uncomfortable he made me, his mouth twisted into a smirk. Then he straightened up, and continued to kindly inform us. I watched the entire time, never failing to take my eyes off of him, afraid that the moment I do, he'll pull some kind of trick on me.
"This, Miss Cynthia and Company," he continued addressing the hand on top of the staff, " is the first hand of Evendra." He began to pace as slowly as he talked, around the cave, with his back facing us.
"It is also the most powerful one out of the three," he said. Then he stopped pacing, and looked back. "Follow me?" He asked. We could only nod.
"Evendra the Wise had three hands. Her left hand was a fist. It held strength and power. Her right hand was flat out and her palm was in plain sight. It held peace and respect. Both hands were powerful in their own ways. Since both hands were polar opposites of each other, she needed a third hand that served as the mediator between both of them. This hand was created from the wisdom and knowledge she held in her brain, so it hovered over her head. This hand was the most powerful of them all. It held wisdom and magic..." Lycaon was telling us the story of the all-powerful and wise sage, Evendra. When I was younger, whenever I had trouble falling asleep, one of the Dites before me would come in a vision and tell me a story. Yeah, it sounds kind of childish but it's true! They would mostly tell me about their adventures, but one day Dite Abiba told me one story about Evendra. I was fascinated by this omniscient and placid character. From then on, whenever Dite Abiba would come visit me in my dream I would plead with her to tell me another story about the adventures of Evendra.
I caught myself zoning out and brought myself back to what Lycaon was saying.
"...I, Lycaon, was able to trick the third hand, the very Gamma itself, and captured it!" He finished proudly "Then, I tricked foolish Boetius, ruined his life and reputation and captured his sorry kingdom." Lycaon pointed at Boetius when he mentioned him. We automatically looked at him, and saw that Boetius had hung his head in shame. I noticed that the pack seemed to be glaring at him as well. I will admit, I did feel a bit sorry for the dude. My attention was brought back to Lycaon as he began to talk again. Apparently the scoundrel wasn't done giving his egoistical speech.
"After hearing all this, Miss Cynthia, do you still want to take the hand and get on my bad side, or you can be a good girl, give up, let me turn you and your sorry friends into werewolves, and join the pack. I may even let you rule the pack long side with me," Lycaon offered. Then faster than a blink of an eye he came over to me, and bent over so we were eye level.
"So what will it be, Miss Cynthia?" He asked with a sickly sweet smile. Then I did something that I still couldn't believe I did even after it happened, and I had no idea what made me do it either. I spat in his face and told him that I would rather die a slow and painful death than live the rest of my life with a dirty, filthy, good-for-nothing weasel like him. The whole room was in a dumbfound silence after I said that. Lycaon's mouth contorted into a deep frown and he straightened up and stared down at me with eyes that burned with unfathomable rage. He swiftly turned around, and the pack parted like the Red Sea. Near the entrance of the cave, he glanced back and said, "As your wish Miss Cynthia."
Then he commanded, "Boetius, dispose of them and make sure they all die slowly and painfully." Then he walked out of the cave and turned left.
Boetius walked up to us menacingly. I studied him meticulously. At first glance, he looked ready to shed blood, but after a closer look, I realized that something else was on his mind. He stopped in front of us, but his eyes were laid on Yedana. Without turning around, he addressed the pack.
"Leave us alone," he commanded in a voice filled with superiority and power. A murmur went out in the pack. There was a hesitation among the members to follow this order.
"I said, LEAVE US ALONE!" Boetius roared. He snapped his head to look at them. His eyes glowed yellow. Tom and I tried to flatten ourselves against the wall. The pack took a frightened step back. Only Yedana seemed unfazed by this sudden burst of anger.
"Yes Beta," they replied meekly and they all left on their way swiftly.
"So your the Beta of the pack, huh?" asked Yedana smoothly. Boetius faced us again with his eyes closed. He opened them after a few seconds. They had returned to his normal green eyes.
"Yea. It's more of a punishment and a reminder of what I've done than it is a reward," he replied just as smoothly.
"Huh," grunted Yedana politely. They went on like this for a little while. Tom and I watched astounded as they chatted like friends on any normal day. Yedana didn't even hold a hint in her voice that she was talking to her soon-to-be murderer. After while, Boetius burst into a voice that held urgency.
"Yedana, I don't know how much time I have before that cheat comes back," he growled hurriedly "And I know that he specifically told me to kill you because he knew that I couldn't."
"Yedana, I don't have to kill you. You can stay with me under my protection and no one will hurt you. You will live a peaceful and luxurious life if you choose to stay. I'll somehow find a way to convince Lycaon. It wouldn't be hard since its mainly her [he pointed at me when saying this] he's mad at. Please Yedana, just stay with me," Boetius finished pleadingly. I had no idea how to react to this. I looked at Yedana. She was quiet for a minute as if processing what she just heard and sorting through her emotions.
"Boetius," she began calmly and quietly "I will never stay with you."
"W-what?!" Boetius stuttered astonished. Apparently, that wasn't the answer he expected.
"I said, I WILL NEVER STAY WITH YOU!" Yedana ranted "AFTER ALL YOU DID TO ME AND AFTER ALL YOU SAID TO ME, YOU EXPECT ME TO FORGIVE YOU AND JUST GALLOP BACK TO YOU LIKE NOTHING HAPPENED?! YOU -" Yedana used a colorful slur of words to describe her oh-so-loving feelings towards Boetius. If he didn't understand how she felt about him through those words she had chosen, I don't know what will. "I WILL NEVER BETRAY MY FRIENDS THE WAY YOU BETRAYED ME!" finished Yedana smartly.
"YOU DESPICABLE GIRL!" screeched Boetius and without a moment's hesitation, he raised his hand above his head and threw it forward with all his might, whipping it across Yedana's face. The sound of skin contacting skin echoed through the walls of the cave. It seemed as if even the rocks and dirt that made up this room was struck with disbelief. My rage boiled through me drowning the sounds of apology and remorse that left the mouth of that filthy scumbag. In the blink of an eye, I held Boetius by the neck. He cowered at the sight of me. My eyes turned a piercing blue.
"What did you call my sister?" I asked deathly calm.
"A-a- despicable girl," he gulped in fear. My temper rose once more in me, filling me up slowly.
"And what did you do to her after that?" I asked again in the same scarily leveled voice.
"I-I- hit her," he replied meekly.
"Yes you did," I said. My anger had reached its peak. I slammed his head with all my might against the nearest cave wall. He let out a painful howl. He dropped him and he fell limp on the floor. I had no time to feel any regret. My tiger form which I was trying to keep from getting out all this time broke the mental bonds that I used to keep it and broke free, transforming me into a white tiger that was filled with fury. I was seeing red. I grabbed Yedana and Tom with my paws and threw them on my back. I ran hastily out of the cave and turned left. Luckily, I didn't need to go far to meet my prey. Lycaon, hearing Boetius's howl, was racing out of the room to see what was going on. Before he could realize what he was facing, I slapped the staff out of his hand and walloped him back into the room he had just left. The hand had come off of the staff when it contacted the ground. I grabbed Gamma with my mouth and jumped off the mountain. I landed smoothly on the forest ground and without stopping, I ran with Tom and Yedana desperately trying to stay on me. I used every muscle in my tiger form and every magic that was given to me as a Dite to get me and my friends out of that cursed forest. It was only after we got out and we were flying through the air did I let myself feel guilty about knocking out Yedana's oppressor.
