2. Midnight run

                  
Chapter 2, Midnight Run

"You can't just do stuff like that!" I screamed at him, dodging a vase that he had just thrown at me.
"I do what I want, Katie! Don't you understand that?!" He was starting to get really mad, I could tell by the way his jaw flexed and his dark, brown eyes narrowed. I never understood how his mind really worked, I only knew that it didn't make any sense.
"Fuck you, Oliver," I never called him Oliver, always Oli, "We're done." I spit the words at him, before grabbing my jacket.
"You ain't leaving me, baby girl." He wrapped his big, strong hands around my neck, pressing tightly.

I woke up, panting like crazy. That was the most realistic one I've had in a long time. A shiver was sent down my spine and I quickly got up, taking off my PJ's and replacing them for some sporting clothes.

My handwriting was clumsy, but readable. I put the note on the kitchen counter before grabbing my keys and exiting the house. It was dark out, but the street lanterns provided enough light for me to see where I was going and I quickly found myself running at a pretty high speed. Music was blasting through my ears and after about half an hour, I felt lots better. Making my way back, now running a little bit slower, I started to scan the neighbourhood. All the houses looked similar to mine, but with a slightly different touch to it. Although, one stood out. It was a few streets away from my street, the light of the driveway was still turned on and two boys were playing a little game of basketball. Joking around mostly.
They looked a lot like each other, probably twins. Both around 18 or something. Could be older or younger too. I decided to just run past them, it's not like they would harass me or something.
Whilst I ran past them, I made eye contact with one of them. He was a little bit shorter than the other one, and I gave him a quick smile. He didn't smile back. Someone's a little moody, I thought to myself as I kept running.

When I arrived back home, I took a quick shower before going back to bed. I lied awake for half an hour or so, thinking about my first day at school. My mum told me that it was a pretty big school, so they wouldn't notice it if there suddenly was a "new girl". I really hoped that she was right.
