Chapter Forty FiveI finish raving off my pizza and then we finish watching the movie. I look at the time, twenty minutes were left to go to my job. I looked over at Chris and gave him an apologetic smile.
"What?" He asked
"I gotta go, for my job in twenty." I said.
"So you are gonna abandon me?" Chris said trying to act offended. Trying.
"Oh ya. I got bored of your company you know." I said shutting the laptop and putting it away.
"Fine then. Go. I'll spend time with your brother."
"He has a girlfriend remember."
"So do I."
I smiled at him and got off the bed. Then I ruffled through my cupboard for clothes and went into the washroom. When I came back out Chris was still on the bed.
"How many times a day do you change?" he asked smirking.
"I was wearing my pajamas, and Mr if you wanna go out in a piar of boxers and an old shirt, you may. But I can't." I said pulling my hair in a pony.
"And sweats are better?"
"Yes." I said. "Let's go."
"I'm not going anywhere."
"No you're not. But you won't stay in my room. Come out."
He groaned and rolled off the bed and followed me outside.
I saw Jo sprawled on the couch as expected. I looked at Chris and smiled.
Then I went to him and pulled him closer and pressed my lips to his I reached his pocket and swiped his car keys from there. Then I smiled at him and dashed to the door, before he could suspect anything.
"I'm gonna drive okay?" I said.
"Not my car." Both the boys shouted in union. Wonder how they do that?
"Sorry Chris." I said and jingled the keys in front of him.
"How did you- oh god you nauggty girl." Chris said and came after me.
I ran outside, got inside his Porsche and drove off laughing.
I reached the coffee shop. The string smell of coffee beans hitting me. I took a deep breath and went to the counter.
The boy on the counter, Brian as his name tag told me said, "Yes how may I help you?"
"Uh I came here for the job. As a cashier."
"Oh yeah George was waiting on you. Lily right? Wear this batch and start work." He said handing me a batch which I pinned up in my shirt.
George saluted before disappearing into the 'employees only' room. Probably taking a break.
Brian explained me the way things work. When we were supposed to give discounts, etc.
----
"What do you want?" I said my voice was tired and I just wanted some coffee.
I had been taking the orders for people from the past two hours. My shift was about to get over, just as George would come I would go. It was really tiring because believe it or not, I felt like I was working in Starbucks rather than a small coffee shop down the road.
"Uh I want a cappuccino...no wait...uh...just a minute." The lady in front of me muttered.
I let out an exhausted sigh. Seriously? Couldn't this lady order faster?
"Hey I'm here. You can go home now." George said smiling.
"Thanks dude. I'm really tired."
"And its your first day."
"And its my first day." I agreed and walked out of the coffee shop.
I sat in the car for ten minutes before I decided to drive. I liked Chris' car, it smelled like him and it was a Porsche.
I pulled up in front of my house and saw Mia's car parked on the porch. There goes my time with Chris.
I sighed and entered. Mia was on the couch with the two guys, Jo and Chris. I gesture Chris to come up to my room.
"I gotta go home fast." Chris said cooking up to my room. "Why did you take my car?"
"That was the only way I could get you to stay. I'm sorry you cannot. Bye." I said and gave him a light peck on his lips.
Then we both headed down. I was hungry. Really hungry. I guess I could eat up an whole elephant. After Chris drove off I went to where Mia and Jo were sitting.
"Dinner?" I asked.
"Already had it." Jo said.
Then Mia said something to Jo which made Jo a but angry. He frowned and looked at me.
"What's she saying?" I asked.
"She is saying that because we already had dinner and the kitchen has been cleaned, she won't make dinner for you. She says if you wanna eat you can cook it yourself and then clean the kitchen again." Jo said.
"Oh actually I'm not really hungry. I guess I can do without dinner." I said.
Even though I was hungry as hell, I suddenly felt my throat going dry and feeling a sudden loss of appetite.
I dragged myself up to my room after taking a bottle of water. I locked the door behind me and after changing into my boxers I sat down on my bed.
I stared at the canvas' on the floor, one that I had painted and the other which Chris had given me. I remembered my birthday this year, it had been so perfect and so happy. I was no longer that guilty for my tattoo or my parents death, but now I saw all of them coming back and hitting me again.
I thought of calling somebody and ended up calling Connor, as I realized Meg would be asleep and Ariana had just gotten over the breakup.
"Hello? Lily?" Connors voice spoke the other side.
"Hi. Do you have time? I wanna talk to someone." I asked.
"Ya sure is it about Chris?"
"No. About nothing specific. I just wanna talk." I wouldn't tell him about Mia and that I had not had anything and was pretty much starving out here. That would bring both the boys in my house with loads of food. That sounded good.
"Okay speak up. What's bothering you?"
"I told you nothing specific. What's up? How was your day?" I asked.
"Nothing much. Pretty much had a boring day. You know Philip was busy today. So yeah...but I just had delicious pasta now. You had dinner?"
"Uh ya it was pretty good." I said shaking my head to convince myself.
"What did you have?"
"uh Indian." I said.
"Wow what did you have in Indian?"
"Uh cannot explain. Hard stuff. Gotta go. Bye. See ya tomorrow." I said and switched off the phone.
I lay down on my bed, my stomach was churning in hunger. I willed myself to sleep. Hopefully I get some sleep.
