Chapter Ten

"You actually met Zayn Malik from One Direction?" my younger sister, Melanie asked, flabbergasted.
I nodded my head, giggling, "And hit him with my purse." I added, flipping my ponytail. Melanie looked over at me, her mouth dropping. "Close your mouth. You'll catch flies."
Melanie shook her head before she pulled her phone from her purse. "Omygod!" she began to fangirl, fanning herself.
"What?" I asked, pulling a piece of gum from the pack I had just bought. I never understood why she liked boybands so much. She wasn't always like this. At one point in her life she was normal. That is, until she started watching the X-Factor. It all went down hill from there.
"George Shelley just tweeted!" she exclaimed like it was obvious. Running a hand through her blond waves, she began to text rapidly. Her and I were a lot alike. Aside from our hair and our obsessions of course. We both were extremely sarcastic, humorous, and optimistic.
I rolled my eyes at her comment. "What do you even like about him? Or any of them for that matter? It's not like their that attractive."
"Says the girl who got Zayn Malik's number. I believe he is a member of One Direction. I obsess over them."
"Okay, first off - Wait. How did you know I have his number?"
I looked over at her, raising an eyebrow. She sheepishly looked down at her hands. "Do you have my phone!?" I rummaged through my purse, unable to find the blackberry. "You do!"
"Hey! I wanted gum, but then I saw your phone. I wanted to see if you got his number and I was right. You do." Her pale face flushed red with embarrassment.
"If you want gum, just ask. I don't bite." I stated, putting my phone back in it's rightful place. Melanie looked over at me, her face clearly stating she was not convinced.
"There was that one time when we were kids...." she trailed bringing back the hilarious memory of when I had bit her finger and sent her to the emergency room.
"I was five, and it was an accident."
"Really? That isn't what you told mom."
"I was mad, but I didn't mean to send you to the hospital!"
"Whatever you say, finger eater."
"Don't call me that!"
"Finger eater, pumpkin eater!"

I let out a sigh as I leaned over the bridge railing. Mia had convinced Niall to go on the Ferris Wheel, claiming it would be 'romantic' and 'memorable'. The only reason I was still hanging around was because I got the joyful job of carrying around the teddy bear, Niall had won for Mia. She insisted he win her a prize. But really, what twenty one year old wants a teddy bear? How childish.
Aside from the multiple interruptions from Mia, I had a pretty nice day. I had learned more about Niall In one day, than I had learned about Bree within the two months we had been together. I even told him things, I had never told anyone. There was something about him; I don't know what it is, but it makes me feel safe.
