Tobias.
I try my hardest to stop the laugh from coming out of my mouth as everyone groans and shrieks as their oh-so-precious hiking boots get stuck in the mud. I mean hello, they're called hiking boots for a reason. If I wanted them to be all flouncy and stiff then I would've made them wear ballet flats, and don't even get me started on how damn annoying it is having Tris yapping on and on about how they need to do this and that better. I should be the one who does all the correcting right? She's been here for like five days, and I've been here for 2 years!
"Guys," I roll my eyes and ignore the burning in my legs that accur everytime I lift my foot up and trudge through the mud. "Calm down for Gods sake."
"Urgh," Dasuni grimaces slightly before looking at the mud in disgust. "How is it so muddy if it's sunny outside?"
Laughing, Connor tries to stick his mud covered boot out for Dasuni for to trip over, but Delila grabs Connor by the arm and wrenches him to the side before he can trip her. "What's your problem?" She snickers quietly.
"Well," Tris replies while looking over her shoulder. "This genius over here--" She pints at me. Wait, why at me? "--chose the wrong path."
I throw my hands up in mock surrender before grasping onto the branch of a tree so I don't fall. "Trust me, this'll get us there ten time quicker than if we went the other way."
I begin walking backwards, as Tris walks forwards, away from the kids. The sight of all of them struggling to walk in their uniforms is so heart wrenching, but also slightly amusing at the same time. And I'll admit that it makes me feel like a bad person because I'm enjoying them struggling.
"Where are we going again?" asks while holding onto Delias' arm for support, and Delila rolls her eyes in reponse.
"We're you not listening?" Caroline asks while adjusting the bandana tied around her forehead. "They said we're going to the lakeshore."
I nod. Tris nor the campers have been to the lakeshore, for as long as I'm aware. Although we had a bonfire in the pit last night, there's another fire pit beside the lakeshore. And I honestly prefer that one way more because of how breathtaking it is. It's like the only way for me to relax when I'm not being Mitch's pet dog.
We come across the end of the path, and it gets split into two opposite narrow paths, both without mud. I begin to turn right, where I think is the right way to go but Tris clamps a hand around my arm. "Where are you going?" She demands.
Where do you think? I roll my eyes before pulling my arm out of her hands. "To the lakeshore, where else?"
"It's that way though," Pointing in the other direction, she shakes her head.
"What, no it isn't."
"Yes it is."
"Tris, you've been here for how long now? You've never been down that path."
"Who cares, it'll lead to the same place."
"No it won't, you idiot."
She rolls her eyes before gesturing for all the campers to follow her as she makes her way towards the left. "Tris," I call out annoyed. "That leads to Narnia, I swear."
Turning around, she points to all the mud and dirt that covers the pathway I'm facing. I know the ground is unleveled and dirty, but it's the only way to get to the lakeshore. I mean, I've actually tried to climb from tree to tree once before, and I ended up in a cast for three weeks. So I know that walking is the only option. "How filthy are you, Four? These are new shoes I'm wearing, they're already dirty enough, dude," She exclaims while pointing to the green Nike on her feet.
