Tobias.

I wake up the sound of rain splattering against a window. My eyes slowly open, and I rub them with my pale hands.

My back rests against the headboard of the small bed, my arms outstretched in front of me. A laugh erupts from beside me, and my eyes avert to the window on the opposite side of the room and I see Tris standing there with her arms crossed, watching the rain pour.

"What's so funny?" I ask, my voice low from sleepiness. Tris turns around and rolls her eyes, then shivers. I shake my head, realizing that she's wearing a onesie.

"We get to skip scouting today!" She exclaims while tying her hair into a bun, uncrossing her arms.

I throw my legs over the edge of the bed and sit up straight. "No we don't, even though it's raining there are indoor activities we do," I reply while standing up.

Memories of last night flood my memory as soon as I stand up, and it makes my neck feel hot suddenly. My entire body feels like it's on flames.

"Fucking hell," Tris grumbles under her breath while crossing her arms and walking towards the nightstand dividing out two beds.

I laugh, running a hand through my messy hair. "You still have three months with them, don't complain after the first day with them," I retort.

I walk over to the door, the mesh door soaked in rain. A small puddle is created in front of the door inside, splattering onto the wooden flooring. The grey clouds block the sky, and the sky is an eerie shade of dark blue. Puddles have been created on the porch outside, the old oak wood visually dense.

"Tobias, can I ask you something?" Tris asks while walking over to me, her arms still crossed. I nod, suddenly not comfortable with her being so close to me after the events of last night.

It's not like I mind the fact that she's close to me, but I know one of these days that I'm going to do something completely and utterly stupid.

"I-uh-what happened in the office last night? After I left?" She asks, rocking back and forth on her footed pyjamas. I find it ironic how someone with such little patience is wearing a onesie with peace signs on it. Because if you have peace, you're a nice person If you're a nice person, then you above patience. I don't think Tris has any of those qualities.

Now I realize that I haven't answered her question yet.

"Oh, Mitch just told me to be careful," I stammer, trying to add a casual shrug to it. That is probably a huge lie. Clarissa basically saved me from getting in trouble from Mitch, one of the only things she's good at.

She's my twin, and despite the fact that we're only 2 minutes apart, Mitch and Isabel both love her like she's their own daughter--thus the reason why I'm the one that gets in trouble 99.9% of the time.

"Really?" Tris asks skeptically while taking a step closer, making me really uncomfortable. I can barely breathe and I'm not used to it. Everytime I'm less than ten feet away from Mitch I already feel really out of place, I try to avoid uncomfortable situations whenever I can.

"Yup."

The shorter the answer, the less dialogue between us. The less dialogue between us, the less likely it is for me to look at her. The less I look at her, the less the chances are that I'm going to. . .you know, liking her more than a friendly way.

"Tobias don't lie to me, what happened?" She asks softly, leaning her shoulder onto the window sill, her head resting on the glass window.

I gulp, running a hand through my hair once more. "I'm serious, nothing happened," I reply casually. My feet want to take ten thousand steps away from her, like she'll admit some sort of poisonous substance that could kill me. Yet I'm still standing here, unable to move.
