I finish off dusting the last room and flung myself on to the polished floor. They have really worked me to the bone, is this what a god has to do?! I've had to polish the wooden floors, rake the leaves outside the shrine, replace the rotting wood, fix the doors and trim the bushes and trees. I'm so exhausted. As I'm catching my breath, Tomoe looks down at me. "Excuse me, who told you you could rest? You still have to prepare dinner." I sit up and gaze at him. "Prepare dinner? Don't you think I've done enough chores for today? And why am I even doing chores when I'm a god? That's what servants like you are for." He suddenly slams his foot against the floor. "I will not tolerate such childish behaviour! You have been chosen to be a god so you must do your duties as a god, and I am not a servant. I used to be the familiar of the previous god, Lady Nanami. But since she is no longer the Land God, I am free to do as I please." He pulls out a paper fan with beautiful embroidery and holds it up to his face. I huff. "Well, if you don't mind me asking. What is the job of a familiar?" He lowers his fan. "The job of a familiar is to serve their Master or Mistress. They follow commands and help in whatever way they can to please their Master." He states blankly. I have so many questions that need answering. "Why was I chosen to be the Land God?" A sigh leaves Tomoe's lips. "I honestly don't know why Lady Nanami chose you, I don't see what's so special about you." I glare at him as he sits down just in front of me.

"Ok then... How does one get a Familiar?" Tomoe laughs at my question, I just look puzzled at him. "Wow, you really are stupid aren't you. You can't get a familiar, you have to seal a contract to officially gain a Familiar." He looks amused at me. "Oh, how do you seal the contract?" His eyes widen and he looks away. "Why should I tell you, it's not like I want to become a familiar again. I'm finally free to do as I choose, without being bossed around." Tomoe stood up and walked out of the shrine. "Where are you going?!?" I yelled but he didn't respond. Kotestsu came floating toward me, looking worried. "Is everything ok, Lady (Y/n)? You seem distressed." I groaned and fell back onto the floor, glancing up at Kotestsu. "Why is Tomoe so negative towards me?" I ask him. "Well um. It seems Master Tomoe is displeased that Lady Nanami has left the shrine and put you in charge, don't let it get to you. Master Tomoe has always been like this, he doesn't seem to like humans. If you have any troubles, you can come to me if you want." I smile and rise back up. "Thanks, I'll be sure to come to you if I have any problems... Oh I was wonder, where did Tomoe go off to?" Kotestsu looks up at me. "Oh, I think Master Tomoe has gone outside to gaze at the moon while drinking traditional Sake. Would you like to see him?" Would I like to see him? He's been so rude to me even since I arrived here, but I want to be on good terms with him instead of hating each other. "Yes please." Kotestsu points to the back door of the shrine, I walk towards the back door.

I open it to find Tomoe sitting on the decking, staring at the captivating full moon. In his hand a small cup filled with Sake, and he seemed so relaxed, so calm. His hair glistens in the moonlight, his skin seemed to glow. I make my way to his side. "Excuse me Tomoe, may I accompany you?" He glances away from the moon and at me, with a sigh he motions for me to sit. I gladly sit next to him and gaze at the beautiful night sky. It was silent for the next few minutes, until he breaks the silence. "Ok, so why are you out here with me? Aren't you supposed to be making dinner?" Oh I completely forgot about that?! "That doesn't matter now! What matters is settling the relationship between you and me. Like I would love if you became my familiar but you seem to disagree. You must  hate me, but I don't hate you."
"Well he truth is I don't really like you at all, I don't see why Lady Nanami left us for you? Can you even use talismans? I want you to try and change this Sake back into water." He says. I gulp as he handed me a brush and a blank talisman. I write 'Water' on the talisman and place it on the cup. Tomoe try's it and looks disappointed. "It's still Sake, your such a disappointment." He growled and stood up. "If you can fulfil simply tasks then I'm not fit to be your familiar" and with that he left me alone once again.
