Chapter 16

---Mizuki P.O.V---

(Y/n) strides towards the door and leaves. I didn't know what to say, I thought she would be happy to marry me... It's that Tomoe's fault. He's got her wrapped around his finger... She doesn't know what kind of person he is, I would treat her better than Tomoe ever would. I just need my chance to show her...

---Reader P.O.V---

After school I sped to the shrine, making sure Mizuki wasn't following. I ran up the stairs and bursted through the door, breathing heavily. I walked into the kitchen to see Tomoe cooking tonight's dinner. He was happily humming to himself, which surprised me. As I sat down at the table his ears twitched to face me, his tail then swayed faster side to side. "How was school?" He asked. I just sighed and shoved my head into my hands. Tomoe then did something unexpected. He stopped cooking and approached me, he jerked my arm, making me stand up. He then snaked his arms around my waist and embraced me, his hands rubbing my back gently. I took a moment to realise what was happening before I returned the hug, wrapping my arms around him tight. His warm breath tickled my ear. "Is everything ok?" He asked in a soothing tone, I nearly melted from the sound of his voice.

"Yeah I guess... It's just what happened at school today." I don't want Tomoe worrying about Mizuki, I will never marry him. I'm in love with Tomoe... Nothing can change that...
He softly kissed my collarbone, making his way to my neck. I closed my eyes, feeling relaxed and more calm. "If anyone's causing any trouble for you just tell me, ok? I'll deal with them in a second." He commented, nuzzling his head against my neck. His ears softly brushed my flushed cheeks, this made me giggle. He raised his head to look at me, his eyes were glowing, his lips curled into a smile. I've never seen his eyes this bright or his face beaming. Just looking at him makes me smile. I lean in and place a quick peck on his soft lips, which results with Tomoe passionately kissing me. Oh god I love Tomoe. He drives me insane!

Our lips part after a while, even though I didn't want to stop—I just couldn't get enough of him. We go sit outside, gazing at the cherry blossom trees. They weren't fully blossoming today, just little pink buds waiting to bloom. I sighed and leant against Tomoe's shoulder. He glances down at me. "So who was bothering you at school?" He asked, staring intently at me. I gulped and looked at the fallen petals on the ground. "Oh umm...its nothing. Just some annoying girls, that's all..." I lied, I had to! I didn't want Tomoe to worry about me. He narrowed his violet eyes, his ears twitching. I felt like he was staring into my soul... "Your lying. I can tell, just tell me the truth (Y/n)." He said bluntly, crossing his arms and huffing. I nervously laughed, "what do yo mean? It was just some annoying girls. They were just saying some rude stuff, but I'm fine. I just ignored them." I just kept lying but he seemed to see right through it, he's too perceptive. I unwillingly gave up, slightly exasperated. "Fine. I didn't want to worry you so I wasn't gonna tell you this, but I guess I can't hide anything from your sharp senses... That white snake that left that mark on me showed up today at school. His name is Mizuki. He was going on about the marriage and stuff, I obviously objected. He was also going on about some rude stuff about you and that's when I left, I couldn't stand talking to him any longer." I felt annoyed just talking about it.

Tomoe looked furious, I didn't expect any less from him. "Mizuki huh? I know him. I absolutely despise him. That vile snake..." He scolded, hatred burning in his voice as he talked. I find his hand and intertwine his with mine, squeezing it slightly. "You don't have to worry Tomoe," I tried comforting him, "He doesn't matter at all, because all I need in my life is you and you alone." His face lighten slightly and he leant his head against him. "And all I need in my life is you (Y/n), nothing else is more important than you. So that's why I will do anything to keep that repulsive snake away from you at all cost." He assured me, his lips curled into a soft smile.

---Tomoe P.O.V---

I smiled at her, trying to stay calm and collected. What am I supposed to do? Mizuki could make his move whenever I'm not around....I need to protect (Y/n) no matter what... I leant against (Y/n), staring out at the cloudy, grey mid afternoon sky. I heard her sigh softly, she must be tired. "Hey, you should have a nap. You've had a tiring day today I reckon." I suggested, she tiredly nodded and stood up. I followed her into her room, making sure she is in bed. As I'm about to leave I feel a sudden tug on my sleeve, I turn to look down at (Y/n). "Please... Don't go..." She weakly said as her eyes were half open. I snickered and sat down next to her tired body, gently brushing my fingertips over her delicate face. Her eyes closed, lips pursed, hair falling over her rosy cheeks. She's like an angel, a beautiful sight. I could watch her all day—I know that sounds stalker-ish but I don't care, she is too gorgeous too look away from.

Her breathing was steady, her body shifting to get comfortable. I sighed and lay down beside her, stroking hair calmingly. I didn't notice I feel asleep within a few minutes, I guess I was pretty tired too. My last thought was (Y/n)'s beautiful face—just seeing her safe makes me calm, I can sleep peacefully knowing that she's by my side, and that she loves me. That's all I need to get through life...
