Reader's P.O.V

As I lay in bed, I could hear the faint footsteps entering the bedroom.

I stiffen.

My heart was pounding.

I curled my knees into my chest, to make myself stick out of the blanket less.

'What am I going to do?'

The door clicks shut and the room is filled with a deafening silence.

". . . (Y/n). . . "

Some weight is pressed against the end of the bed, pushing the mattress down.

"Someone is here to see you. ."

Kurama's voice was low and comforting, but I didn't flinch, I lay still.

His hand lightly grappled the edge of the blanket, lifting it up slowly, but I refused to let them see me. So I grasped the blanket and pulled it back down.

I heard a loud huff and some muttered words.

It felt like a whole zoo was trampling through my stomach.

I just wanted to melt into the mattress. . .

I didn't want to be here. . .

"(Y/n). . ."

Instead of Kurama's cold voice, the voice of the familiar traitor flood my ears.

I frown.

". . . I know you don't like me. But please listen. ."

I feel someone's hand touch my back, to which I cower away from the touch.

"Go away!"

I shouted, my throat burning with all the words I wished to say but refused to let out.

It was silent.

The tic-tic sound of a clock in the neighbouring room the only source of noise.

"(Y/n)."

It was a different voice this time, it was gaily and full of energy, more high pitched than the previous voices.

I've heard that voice before. . .

Mizuki?

With turmoil plastered on my face, I pull the blanket off my face, looking up at the familiar snake boy's figure.

"Mizuki. . ."

His pale face brightens and his lips curl into a beaming smile.

"Lady (Y/n)!! I'm so glad you remember me!"

I couldn't help but let a smile fall over my lips while his eyes glimmer as he stares at me.

Next to the enthusiastic Mizuki was the man I least wanted to see at the moment, with his menacing eyes and silver locks, Tomoe was leaning against the wall.

With narrowed eyes and a sudden frown, I sat up, glaring in his general direction.

"(Y/n). . ."

Tomoe's low voice made me feel perturbed, I just wanted to hide under the blankets again.

How dare the man who killed my parents come here. . .

I wince as Tomoe sits beside me, his face showing no expression.

"I have something that may help you remember some things ab-"

I scoff, interrupting him mid-sentence.

"You really think anything will change my thought about you. . . You're really holding onto false hope, huh? How pathetic. ."

I spit it those words, no regret hidden in my voice, only anger.

Tomoe's mouth is ajar, as if he was about to oppose but couldn't find the exact words.

Mizuki, who had his hand on Tomoe's shoulder, approached me. In his hand was a strange object, it looked like an ancient incense burner?

The white haired boy placed the object on the bed next to me, which I noticed had already had a few puffs of smoke arising from it.

I quizzically gazed at the pale incense burner and then up at Mizuki. He just smiled and returned to Kurama's side.

What's the point of this?

Is this supposed to calm me down??

Well if it was supposed to calm me down, it was working.

I was starting to feel light headed, all my senses grew numb as I breathed in the smoke. It didn't really have a particular smell to it, it was mostly a mix of singeing grass and pinewood, and a hint of something sweet?

It was a mesmerising smell, I closed my eyes to let the smoke take over my mind.

I suddenly felt weak as all my muscles become limp and I fell on my back.

"Hopefully after this (Y/n), you will come back as the (Y/n) I used to know. . ."-was the last thing I heard before completely blacking out. . .

What. . .

is. . .

happening. . .

I hear the sound of cars passing, and rain pattering on metal.

I pry my eyes open, I'm lying in the back seat of someone's car. . .

My parents car. . .

I notice the all too familiar leather seats and random books scattered on the floor, I used to bring books into the car whenever we went on drives but I always ended up throwing them on the floor once I got bored.

I chuckled lightly as I begin to sit myself up. I see my parents, well the back of their heads anyway. My eyes begin to tear up.

Oh how I've missed seeing them.

I go to call out to them but I'm interrupted by a high pitched whine.

"Muuuuuum~ are we there yet???"

I cover my gaping mouth with my hands, my eyes bulging out of my head as I remember that high pitched child's voice. . .

It was my voice. . .

It was me. . . When I was 12. . .

But how?

How is this even possible??

How am I in this car with my supposed dead parents?

How am I sitting here but my 12 year old self is sitting in the row of seats in front of me??
