When a girl gets a crush, it's always her dream that he will have the same admiration. What she doesn't expect is to somehow end up in an international crisis... Then again, things always seem to go topsy-turvy when boys are involved. It is astounding how much the male species can shake up a girl's life. One minute you're a normal, clear-minded girl. The next moment, you and your childhood best friend are fighting over a guy you met five days ago. And, it's not just your friendships he'll ruin. Oh no, he is nowhere near done. There is so many more aspects of your life for him to dabble in. Although, I could honestly say I wish that my guy troubles ended there.
It all started the month before Valentine's Day, everybody was all excited. I happened to be especially excited. I was confident that this would be my year. I would finally get a Valentine. I was tired of being the only one who didn't have little paper hearts in their locker. Last year, even Melanie Revena got a card! Rumors say she sent it to herself. I felt better until I saw the way Peter Summers was looking at her. Now keep in mind we are talking about Melanie. Melanie! I am talking braces-having, mint-needing, wrinkled-clothes-wearing, anime-make-up-styling Melanie from the glee club. I'm not saying I'm better than her. But, if she can get a valentine, so can I.
Yes, this yea would be different. I'd already read about a hundred magazines on "Getting your Valentine's Day Valentine". I'd already had some possible contenders......Andrew from chemistry, Jacques from French and Derek from Theater Arts. Each of them had aspects that I love and a few I was willing to deal with. I just couldn't pick which one I liked more. Besides, I always loved a good love triangle... or whatever.
Anyway, I was headed to chemistry with Andrew. Last class we were told that we were doing a project. I hoped it was a group project! You know because group projects teach us life lessons and team building and.. No, you caught me. I just want to stare at Andrew.
As I walked by Andrew, I "accidentally" dropped my pencil. "Hey you dropped your pencil little miss," Andrew joked "Kim right?" He reached down and handed me my pencil.
"Yeah, you're...um" I replied placing a loose strand of hair behind my ear
"Andrew!!!! How could you forget him of all people," a girl interrupted from the back of the room.
"Oh I knew that," I said truthfully with a pinch of sarcasm. Before I could say anything else, the teacher walked in.
"Good morning class" she sang cheerfully.
"Good morning Mrs. Larson," the class moaned.
"Everybody please sit down."
Before I could sit next to Andrew, a girl pushed me out of the way and I ended up sitting next to Peter. He was an okay kid but he wasn't Andrew by any stretch of the imagination.
Andrew had light brown eyes surrounded in a sea of flawless skin that was the envy of every teenager. His hair was always in that cute spike except for days when he couldn't be bothered to style it. I refer to those days as doomsday because he has the hottest bed head I have ever seen. I mean I could stare at it all day if I could... I mean at school... It's not like I have a slightly stalker-ish collection of doomsday photos hidden in the back of my closet. You know what stop with the questions. I am not the one on trial. I know my rights! Where was I? Andrew. Yes, today he was sporting the usual fitted v-neck with jeans and Letterman jacket. I noticed he also sported a Cindy sleeve. As in Cindy clung to his arm like it was her only life line.
Cindy always got on my last nerve. Cindy was the typical popular head cheerleader at Pearl River High. Her blonde hair was a beacon of beauty and she looked like she had just stepped off the runways of Paris. She is also the girl who pushed me out of my seat next to Andrew! My arm still hurts. She's constantly around Andrew. He was Mary and she was the lamb. The only time you could even talk to Andrew was if she was talking to someone else.
