I was freezing cold and Andrew hadn’t played a single play. I guess that’s what you get for living in bipolar Texas. It’s a good thing that Andrew let me use his leather man. The game was tied and the running back playing was doing a terrible job. Finally the coach put my Andrew in. That sounded nice “MY Andrew”! With Andrew every play was executed perfectly. Our team had dominated and the other team didn’t have a chance. When the Pearls dance team came out, I noticed Cindy was talking to Andrew. I wish I could say I’m not the jealous type ……but I am! Why was she giggling? Did he just tickle her? I know she didn’t just blow him a kiss! I’ll just pretend he didn’t wink!
The next week during Chemistry, things went back to normal. Cindy was all over Andrew. I wanted to just rip her away from him but, she was a junior and I was only a sophomore. I tried to talk to him after class but Cindy was always around. On Friday, Tina finally convicted me “Why are you letting Cindy get all over your man?”
“We’re just going to the dance together,” I sheepishly remarked.
“Kim! Don’t even go there. You guys have officially been going out for four weeks now!”
“Well…..Maybe I’ll talk to him after school.”
“Maybe?”
“You’re one to talk you have been crushing on Brad since forever!”
“I’m just trying to help”
“I didn’t ask for your help”
“Well then fine let me know when Kim gets back because you’re not her!”
When I got to PFD, Tina was scolding me and sitting with Linda Smith. I pretended not to notice and sat next to Mary Monroe. Miss. Swanson walked in with a huge pile of stuff in her hands. Tina rushed to her aid. As she took some of the papers off Swanson’s hand, Miss. Swanson thanked her. “Well you’re WELCOME. I’m glad to be of help,” Tina responded.
“Maybe she didn’t WANT your help,” I retorted
“Well I think she did by the THANK YOU she gave,” Tina snapped
“She wouldn’t have to THANK YOU, if you had just stayed out of it!”
“We can’t all ignore our problems like you!”
“Is there a problem ladies?” Miss. Swanson interjected.
“No! Miss. Swanson,” Tina corrected, “Not any more.”
