Kat:     I sat on my bed, waiting. Luke was late. Fury coursed through me as I imagined Luke forgetting me because of dusty girl. I straitened my scarf; I had worked so hard to look nice and now- HONK! Finally! It was Luke, arriving in his totally gorgeous car. I grinned and skipped down the stairs. “Coming!” I sang. I opened the door to his black corolla and slid into the seat. Luke grinned.

“Ready to go?”

“As I’ll ever be!” I replied. He pressed on the gas and soon we were on the road. “So, where are we going?” I asked. Luke smiled; his eyes still on the road.

“You’ll see.” He said simply. As he drove on I saw a few trees and pastures. Since I was still new to Earth, I could not guess at all where Luke was taking me. Of course, I didn’t have to worry because if anyone, Luke would most definitely know where to go. The road was dry and deserted when I saw an amazing structure come into view. “Are we going there?” I asked. His eyes glanced quickly over at me. I could totally see the corners of his mouth tip upward.

I had never seen it before. It looked old and dangerous, yet amazingly beautiful at the same time. There was a carousel with horses on a few poles, a large wheel with baskets, run down train tracks that looped all around the structure and carts I assumed was the train, a platform with large teacups, and more. Everything was old and rickety, yet with a strengthening feel to it. “Wow! This is wonderful! Yet so weird! It’s like, awesome!” I squealed. Twirling around. Who knew Earth held such wonders! “What is it?”

“This is an amusement park- an abandoned one that is” Luke replied. He threw a rock into a few gears. “That should make the rides work, which ride do you want to go on first?”

“The train!!!” I squealed.

“That’s a roller coaster.” Luke corrected me. Right. I totally knew that. I felt my face go red. Luke laughed. “You’re so cute when you’re embarrassed!” He pulled a lever and I heard an engine rumble. “Ok, so get in the cart, buckle the belt, and hold onto the bar.” He instructed, hopping into the cart beside me. The “roller coaster” then started to move. The carts went up and down and through loops. The wind whipped my face and I screamed, with fear of each drop, and the fun of it all. After that we went on each ride. Spinning on the “merry go round”, riding on the “Ferris wheel” and finally twirling in the “teacups.”

“So we just sit in teacups and spin.” I said. The ride sounded boring.

“That’s about it.” Luke replied. I sat down into the teacup. It was small and teal, with little blue flowers at the rim. Luke sat across from me. The teacup was pretty small so Luke’s knees touched mine. It was like, totally romantic. It was silent between us as I leaned in, implying for a kiss, in a way I knew Luke would see. Luke did see, but instead scooted backward, making a reasonable distance between us. I too, leaned back, embarrassed. How annoying! I crossed my arms and an awkward silence passed between us. “Hey, you wanna go to that ride over there?” asked Luke, pointing across at a ride with sliding carts in a rink. “It’s called bumper cars, you each get in a car and bump into the other cars.” He added. Luke was so smart!  The anger and embarrassment bubbling inside me would soon fly away as I crashed a car into poles- and Luke.

I buckled into a hot pink car and pressed on the gas.  Luke sat in his own dark blue “bumper car” at the opposite end of the rink. I steered toward him. Apparently the stupid cart was nothing like the hover cars in Zeron. I turned and steered right, the car went left. I intended on a wide turn, and soon I found the car spinning in circles. Luke all in that time, drove smoothly and bumped into my car several times. In frustration, I pressed hard on the gas. I squeezed my eyes shut.

“Kat! Watch out!” Luke cried from some ways behind. I ignored him, the car slammed into the bars that surrounded the rink; I then found myself flying into the air. Oh, my god. What in the world happened to the seat belt? The consequences of a diet. My body was slammed onto the ground; I knew a million bruises would be on my bum in the morning.

Luke ripped his seatbelt off and ran to me. “Kat! I’m so sorry! Let me help y-” a few feet away from me Luke tripped. He was falling, closer and closer and his lips hit mine. His eyes were wide open, and he jerked away quickly; but it had happened. Luke had kissed me. “I’m s-sorry…” he stammered, covering his mouth with his arm. This was totally his first kiss. This was like, my fiftieth, except it was special, it was with Luke. The true man born to be mine.

“It’s fine, can you drive me home? My butt hurts soo bad.” I said. I may have sounded calm, but inside, my heart was pounding like crazy. Success! Luke stood up too, brushing dust off his knees. He slid into his corolla and we were on the road. I would never, ever forget this day. Tiffany was going to get so jealous.
