Earplugs stuck in her ears, Anastasia typed in an interview with the taxi drivers. It had taken her 3 days to write them all down and edit. She tried to do her best, as everybody expected it from her. Neather the chief editor or Laura knew how much work and effort she put into her writing.
She loved to tell people's stories, their worries and how things really were. Her work was general, categories from wall to wall; from sport to product information. She never got the chance to interview anyone famous thow. And like luck would have it, now she would have the opportuniety. But she didn't know that yet.
"Anna!" a voice traveled throw as one song ended and another one started. She almost hurt herself, pulling the headphones off. Her nail almost get stuck to the airring, causing slight pain. She turned to see her boss standing behind her, wicked smile on his face. "Mr. Clause! I'm sorry, I didn't hear you come in!" she apologized, pushing her chair away from her work table and turning off her ipod. "Can you come to my office? We need to talk!" The way he said it, made her think that something was completely wrong. Because if anyone says it, then usually something had happend or that she was going to get fired. She took a breath and followed him.
Laura looked up, while they passed her. Anna raised her hands and pointed at Mr.Clause. She mouthed some words, but Laura couldn't figure out what she meant. Anna walked into his office and he closed the door behind them. Walking around the huge dark oak desk, Anastasia took a seat on a chair, facing the window. She waited pasiontly as he sat behind his desk and opened his laptop. "Water?" he asked, taking a tall glass from a silver large tray and poured water in it. "Yes, thank you!" Anna took the glass and drank almost half of it with one gulp. Mmmm, cold and slight taste of lemon. Just the way she liked it.
"We have some big news! There is a famous actor, who hasn't agreed to make an interview with us. We have talked to his manager and to himself, but since yesterday he had rejected every request." he said plainly.
"Since yesterday?" Anastasia asked, taking a small and pleasurable sip from her water.
"Yes. He called yesterday evening and agreed to give an exclusive. But only on one condition." And by now, his smile had reached his ears and there was a slick of amusement in his tone of voice.
"That's great news. But what's the condition? He has some problems with giving interviews?"
"No. But he wants a ceratan person to contact the interview!" He said nothing more and just stared at Anastasia. When Anna didn't know what he meant, he leaned into his chair and pressed some keys on the computer and turned it around. An e-mail was opened on the screen:
From: James Hawk
To: Jameson Clause
Subject: Agreement to interview
Text: Like I said in phone, I have agreed to offer you an exclusive interview. But I'll only do it on one condition. The person who would be interviewing me should be one of your journalists- Anna. Otherwise the deal is off. Let her call me and set up a date for the interview.
Anastasia almost burst out laughting, as she read the mail he had sent him. What the hell? Why she had to do it? She was a journalist for the general department, not an interviewer for the entertainment section. The same guy who had forced a kiss on her, the same guy who had made a move on her. The same guy she kind of had a crush on.
"Why me?" she asked, felling back into her chair, surprised and confused at the same time.
"We don't know and he didn't say why! But he might had read your articles and wants a person that is enought cvalified to do this job!" He shrugged and turned his laptop back to him. "So call him and set up a date. Your deadline is in two weeks." He turned to Anastasia, a smile blastered on his face.
"Anastasia. This is a big deal. This is an oppurtunity that doesn't come very often." he said.
Anna shook her head and twirled the glass in her hands. Nervous, blushed, confused- feelings overwhelmed her, as she stood up and placed the water glass on the table.
An exclusive interview with the global chick magnet would fly Anna's writing in the sky. It would even make her famous, as the person who interviewed that panty-dropping handsome dude.
Closing his office door behind her, Anastasia let out a breath. What was she supposed to do now? Her phone made a sound and e-mail from Jameson popped up with James's personal information and his phone number. All she had to do was call him and set up a date for the interview, ask some questions and file her work in two weeks. It wasn't that hard. She had done it before and there was nothing she had to be worried about.
Did she?
