On a foggy Monday morning Anna takes his jacket from the closet with a hesitation. Her fingers can't grip te fabric and the soggy weather behind the window almost scares her. If Laura had taken two weeks free before the wedding on friday afternoon, then Anna is working throw out the week until Thursday.
After Mr. Clark and Mr. Claus finish their speech about up'n'coming new issue of NYT, people around the confrence room table start to mumble.
Has something happened over the weekend or did she miss something more important? People start stareing at her and their eyes contsentrate on the door behind her. As she shuffels throw her papers, a warm hand covers her shoulder. That feeling feels familiar and as she turns around, the man she wants so much and desires, stands behind her.
Wearing just a pair of dark denims and a low collared t-shirt, the smell of his perfume hits her in a rush. "You!" she almost screams out, as coworkers start to exit and Heather from advertisement stops on the doorway. Mr. Claus pulls her from the hem of her shirt and she almost struggels not to leave.
As the door closes, James pulls out a chair beside Anna and sits down. His eyes are blazing and the shake in his hands almost makes him hard to stay still.
"Yes, it's me." He says, voice so soft that makes her heart melt.
"What are you doing here?" she panicly looks around in the room, making sure that there are no starndlers together with them.
"I came to see you." He shruggs and almost looses his cool for a moment.
"Funniest thing happened yesterday. Your friend called..." He says with a calm voice, his elbows leaning on the large glass table.
"Stop there! Laura called you?" Extreme fury raises in her, trying to control it, she bites her lower lip.
"She did. And I'm happy she did. So, I'm here. Ready to help. Ready to save you. Again." He clentches his jaw, and the lines of his face draw out perfectly.
"I don't need your help- I'll do perfectly fine without cheating myself and lieing to anyone I know." She retalieates, collecting her maps and shoving them into her bag. Pushing her chair away from the table and standing up, Anna finds her phone and starts to write an angry message to Laura. James stands, taking her phone off her hands. "You don't need to get mad at your friend. She just wants to help you." James says, shoving her phone into his jeans pocket.
"Help me? She kept things from me. Things that she knew would hurt me..." she stops, realizing that all Laura did was protect her feelings.
"It's just one evening. That boyfriend of yours thinks that we are together, so why don't we show him what he lost!" He smiles widely, crossing his arms on his chest.
Anna places her bag on the table and laughts. "So your saying that you want to pretend to be my boyfriend?" Her voice almost cracks at the thought, imagening the friday night when she would see Shaun.
"Why not? It's not that hard." He nods.
"It's not?" Anna pretends to be amazed.
"Ofcourse not. You are a gorgeous girl, I would like to hold you and kiss you infront of everyone." James takes a step foward her and grips her hand. His warm hand takes chills run down Anna's back.
"Heh. So you are fine coming with me to the wedding?" How has she already agreed to go with him? Is he playing tricks with her mind?
"Yes." He nods in agreement, "but we need to do something about you being so cold to me!"
"What do you mean?" she asks, her hands calming throw her hair.
"You don't feel comfortable around me!" James says, taking her into his embrace, his hands grip her from behind.
"What the...?" Anastasia is pushed against his chest, his warm breath hitting her face and his deep grey eyes stareing down into hers.
"Kiss me!" he orders.
"What?"
"I said, kiss me! Right now, right here. Don't even think, just do it!" his voice commanding and low.
She laughts shortly but stops. "You are serious?"
He nods.
"Fine!" As she plants a small peck on his lips, the soft lips of hers caress his.
"This isn't called a kiss. This is!" He places one hand behind her neck and pulls her lips on the his. Taking a deep breath, he almost devouers her completly. But a second later, somebody clears his throut behind them.
"Why don't you get a room?" Mike stands in the doorway, a map of photos in his hand.
As Anna whipes her mouth clean, James takes a step back before speaking.
"I'll call you tonight." he smiles, leaning against her ear and whispering, "You taste good!" That makes her blush and the redness travels down to her chest and abdoment.
