I reached up a pale hand and gripped the edge of the hood on my black cloak, pulling it down, making sure that it covered all my features completely. People pass by me, going about their day and not sparing me a second glance. Nobles of high titles along with the homeless that littered the edges of the street were all the same to me. Another pocket to pick.
Either way, if they where unfortunate sad humans or high class prisses they all had what I need, money. Money was what made the world go round, even if it was ridiculous. A simple coin, the size of your thumb could get you a decent meal, and a place to stay for a night. Depending on what the coin is made of.
My eyes scanned the crowd of people, trying to find a suitable target. I spotted a man in a small ally way, in between a shop and a fabric store. A medium sized brown leather bag hung from a small string on his large black belt wrapped around his large waist, giving him a muffin top.
I smirked, then started heading his way. The man did not notice me, he was at one of the many food carts on the edge of the street, looking over the many fruits and vegetables it had to offer. I walked up beside him, close but not close enough to make it seem strange. The pouch was near the front of his belt, so I would have to find a way to get it from him without him noticing until I was long gone.
I pretended to scan the food, picking up an apple and scanning over it, then setting it back down for affect. It was time for my plan to take action, I looked over to the other side of the cart, on the other side of the man. I leaned in that direction, my small figure stretching out in front of him. The man backed up slightly, taken back by my actions. Inconspicuously I reached one hand out of my cloak, the grabbed the string of the money bag and untied it, feeling the weight of the bag drop in my hand, all while I was looking over some very ripe fruits.
Then once I was done and had gotten what I wanted, I slipped my hand back under my cloak the money in my palm and stood up correctly. I turned and started to walk away from the man, thinking it was over and done with when I head the man yell
"Hey! Stop that guy!" I glanced over my shoulder and sighed when I saw him pointing at me, his face red in anger, his breath coming out in short puffs. Why does everyone always assume I am a guy? I retied the string onto my small red belt under my cloak and turned around, seeing the man and a couple others pushing and shoving though the crowd to get to me.
I gave a quick smirk, then, I ran. My advanced eyesight and abilities aided me in this situation and I weaved through the crowd with ease. People where gasping in surprise as I ran past them, I could hear the yells of men growing distant, telling me I was loosing them. All of the sudden, when I ran around a woman, a cart, being pushed by a young boy was directly in front of me. I didn't have time to stop, my body hit the cart and I fell back onto the stone path with a grunt of pain.
I layed on the ground for a few seconds, the yelling of the men was getting closer and people had made a large circle around me, not bothering, or to scared to help. The man I had stolen from pushed through the edge of the crowd, about five more behind him. They where all panting, looking furious while I wasn't breaking a sweat. The man stepped forward, and reached for my hood ready to pull it off and that's when I snapped out of my daze.
My hand shot up and gripped his wrist, he looked shocked for a moment them smiled. "Looks like we got a fighter!" He yelled happily. I glared up at him under my cloak and he turned back to me. Then, I saw his muscles go into work, and before I had time to move myself I felt a hard kick go straight to my ribs. Then another, and another, and another. By the time he stopped I had lost count, my whole body twinged with pain, and I coughed up blood, hearing it splatter against the stone.
That action seemed to satisfy him, and he stepped away, the gestured something to the other men and they all walked away, with satisfied smiled on their faces. I coughed a few more times, adding blood the the puddle before I stood up, swaying to the side and almost loosing my balance, but I kept my footing. I headed the opposite direction of the men, the crowd parted with a word and I limped down the street. I passed people who gave me frightened, disgusted or confused looks but I paid no mind to it, looking for somewhere to spend the night.
Off the the right, was a long but thin back alley, splitting up an old abandoned building and an creepy old shop with the words 'Under taker' on a purple back round lined in fake gold. My body was growing tired and I knew that and Inn would not be close to this part of town so this was my only option. I hobbled toward the dark damp place that would temporarily be my home, and layed down on an old flattened box next to a pile of crates, drifting off to sleep.
