Darcy's POV...
I stepped into the ball room, my hands folded in front of me. A dress of midnight blue silk flowed with the curve of my body and slightly brushed the floor. It had no sleeves and my shoulders were bare and the top of my back was showing. On the top right was a light blue bow that sparkled like the stars. My long black hair was brushed until it shone and a braid was wrapped from the front of my head to the back. I wore a pair of high black high heeled boots and my hands were covered with light blue gloves that went to my elbows.
I was alone, Sebastian had never asked me to the ball like I expected and I was begining to question what I ment to him. I looked around, the ball room was filled wih nobles and I spotted Ciel and Ember at the edge of the room. The music was soft and slow. The people danced around the room and only made me feel worse I looked down to not think about it. I've never been so upset over a guy. I thought
I heard footsteps heading for me and I looked up to see Sebastian standing in front of me. "Good evening Darcy, terribly sorry I didn't ask you to attend the ball with me, I was so caught up in work it slipped my mind." He apologized before I could say anything.
I knew he ment what he said, because in he back of his eyes I saw a spark of regret. "It's no big deal."I replied smiling.
"In that case would you care to dance with me my lady." He asked bowing with his hand extended.
"It would be my pleasure." I replied and placed my hand in his.
We walked onto the dance floor together. He swept me around we seeming to glide above the ground. His movements were well timed and grace filled each step.
Time skip.......
Sebastian and I stood together near Ember and Ciel. I had a wine glass in hand and Sebastian and I were talking bout our past. "No, I didn't have any siblings that I remember, I hardly remember my parents." I replied.
"I've been a demon as long as I can remember and all memories of my life are gone." Sebastian said.
I glanced over and saw Ciel and Ember heading to the dance floor. My jaw dropped as he Bagan to dance with her. "It's unlike young master to dance, but he is eager to empress Ember." Sebastian said.
I smiled seeing her so happy. She had never once spoked about love before meeting Ciel and now she never stopped talking about him. She was finnaly moving on with her life, away from her thief beginings.
Ember's POV...
Ciel and I pressed out bodies close together as we danced. He glided across the floor as if he had danced his whole life. I felt as if we where alone in this whole room filled to the brim with people. My eyes were locked on his and his on mine, and I felt my heart beat out of my chest.
Butterflies fluttered around in my stomach, all these feeling were new to me and I opulent place them, but that wasn't on my mind. The only thought running through my mind were him, his blue and black tux, his eyes that resembled the night sky and the feeling of safety when I was in his arms.
Suddenly, a pressure landed onto my butt, resting there for a second before both of us froze. I began to get angry, think some stranger had the audacity to touch me there when it was off limits. I turned my head, but saw no one.
My eyebrows scrunched together with confusion and I looked down to whatever we on me still, it was a hand. On the thumb was a ring I knew all to well.
Slowly, I turned my head up towards Ciel, my eyes wider than usual from my shock. His face was a deep red, showing how embarrassed he was.
"I-I'm umm, I am so so sorry!" He became a stuttering mess as he ripped his hand away and stumbled back a few steps.
"No, it's alri-" I began but his loud tone cut me off.
"No! I-I, ummm. I need a moment."
With that he turned on his heel and began to walk away, weaving through the now silent crowd as all of their gazes followed him out of the ballroom.
I was left there staring after him in confusion. We where having a great time, well, maybe it was only me... I mean, he is Ciel Phantomhive after all, no way he could want a girl like me. I was a dirty street rat, a thief. I was stupid for thinking I had a chance. No man, nor demon could ever like, or even love a girl like me. I was a freak, an annoyance. A monster.
A hand on my shoulder brought me out of my ranting, causing me to look up. My eyes met with a pair of matching icy blue eyes that where all to familiar.
My mind completely forgot of its thoughts earlier and a large smile spread across my face.
I turned myself around and wrapped my arms around him tightly, squeezing the life out of him.
"Now you don't want to kill me, do you?" A deep voice echoed from his lips, making his chest rumble slightly.
I took a quick step back and looked him over, my eyes looking him up and down quickly with my hand now planted on my chin.
He wore a black and red tux, not as finely made as the other but outstanding for him considering his occupation. As for the neck up, he looked exactly the same. He had dark brown hair that was messy, but it looked better that way in my opinion, his eyes were a mesmerizing light ice blue and I had missed looking into them.
His name was Delari, a dashing name that swept the ladies off their feet, it was not his real one, but no one, not even him knew the real one. We where, and are best friends.
Being out alone on the streets was tough, but he and Darcy made it worthwhile, worth living through.
My smile never left my face "You look exactly the same."
"Some things never change, but how do you like the suit?" He asked me while doing a quick turn.
"It looks good on you, but I'm wondering how you got it."
He chuckled "Your still the same, curious and adorable. I stole it, as always. From a no good cocky rich boy and his daddy."
He always made small comments link that towards me, calling me adorable or cute. I thought nothing of it.
"That's the Delari I know and love. Oh, why are you here?" I questioned him, realizing only now that he wasn't supposed to be here.
"Words been going around that you were taken by Phantomhive. I stopped by to make sure you were okay, as I can see now that you are."
"Yeah, I'm perfectly fine, as you can see. And thanks for looking out for me, even if I don't need you to." I told him, letting another smile settle on my lips.
Suddenly I was pulled into his arms and came face to face with his chest. I recognized his smell, it was a mix of dull mint and the forest. It made me feel at home
"I will always look out for you. I will always protect you." He mumbled into my hair.
My eyebrows scrunched together in confusion and just as I was about to ask him what he meant the same voice from earlier interrupted me once more.
"Ember?"
Why does this keep happening?
