Two voices came from the woods nearby. I sighed as I jumped into the nearby bushes.
This was gonna be hard.
I didn't mean to stay for long, but curiosity got the best of me.
So I stayed, in the bushes, hidden. So I saw, the two people who, I knew, cared for me. And so I remembered the spiky, solider hair, the lively blue eyes, but most of all, I saw the eagerness in their eyes. Why?
I could never know. I had never learned to love someone that much. I had never restricted those few lot that I love, not even once.
It is the only thing that allows one to discover efficiently.
But I am willing to protect the tiny list of people who have that worry in their eyes whenever I go missing. Whenever I wander far into the forest. Or into the night. Or both.So I backed off deeper into the forest. Deeper. Deeper. And as I did, I thought over the past night.
Why would he clone me? correction, why would I clone myself. It was basically me, right? What's the difference?
So I asked myself. Why would you clone yourself? To do what is unbelievably dangerous. What could that be? Of course, if I am Caninian, and this is Earth, then I must have been a travelled far. Probably the first test subject. But my parents? And Lewy? I was confused. If I was a Caninian, then Lewy must be one too, but I don't think so. I knew the difference between Caninian scent and something that is... not Caninian. I know human, perhaps even something that belongs to Earth. But Lewy was neither of the two..... so then what was he?
Was he something else? What about Danny? And Mal?
Don't over do yourself, Wally. Just convert back and navigate out of the forest.
"Aaargh.." I muttered as I came out of my caninian form. With my mouth clamped and my feet light, I walked in the direction that headed outside. I would ring them, but that was only possible after I get home.
That's why I ran as fast as my feet could carry my body. Adrenaline pumped into my vessels, forcing me to run faster than I thought I could. I entered school territory silently. No need to announce my arrival.
I headed for the pay phone in the ground, only to realise that I have one penny only.
"Oh well." I said, as I slid my last penny into the payphone. Dialing Danny's number, I waited for the bell. Soon he picked it up.
"Where the hell are you man!?!"
"At the college payphone. " I replied dryly.
" We looked all over the place! Did you go out to the forest?" he inquired.
"Maybe. " I shrugged as I said that.
"What do you mean'maybe'? Yes, or No." he sounded a little bit angry.
"I guess,... Yeah? "
"Thought so. We're coming in a sec. You stay there, Imma toast ya." he said the last line in a cowboy accent. I couldn't help but giggle as I lowered the phone back onto it's rack. I silently stood there for a while, almost expecting the phone to ring again. No, sir. It's not gonna ring.
I sighed as I moved out to wait at the entrance, for my brother and my best friend. Suddenly I noticed a sweet scent, that was out of the ordinary. It wasn't human, because there were so many human scents out there, yet it stuck out. I had smelled it before, but where?
Think...... Wally think.
Hey! I remember now!
No. Way.Mal.
