Nine

After I finished cleaning I walked to eavesdrop on the girls, hoping to find some secrets. "So he's got the thing." "Yes." "What's his?" "Love. Funny right." I heard laughter which had to have been Maye's "And he's trying to." "urgh, yes." "Uh oh. Not good. He's not gonna leave you alone till." "What seriously No" "But he has to" "He won't be able to" "Why don't you use this as a chance to get a boyfriend?" "NEVER! No! Love doesn't exsist."

I heard a sigh and more useless whispers. " NO MAYE! I'M NOT DOING THAT! I CAN'T STAND HIM. I'M ONLY LETTING HIM LIVE HERE COS I NEED THE FUCKING MONEY!" Liesma's voice was full of hate, rage and pain, her real voice.

I felt the air around me dry up and decided to go check the air con. I was glad I did because at that moment Liesma stormed out of the room with Maye following her. "Why? Because he's a dick that fucks everything witha  heartbeat breaks everyone and destroys people. He's a monster. That's why I despise his entire being. And he's fucking right behind me isn't he." With a nod from Maye Liesma turned around.

Her contacts looked funny, the colours had mixed and I could see a thin grey line surrounding the edge. "I'm hurt you feel that way about me." I mock which earns me a growl. "Shut up. Be thankful I'm not packing you off to your rich mummy and daddy. And I meant every word I said. You call me a freak yet you're the one with powers that manipulates people." at that Maye coughs behind her. 

"Not all people with powers are freaks Maye but he uses his to get good girls into bed with him and turn them into bitches, He's the cock everyone wants to fix. But he can't be fixed because he's meant to be broken. He broke himself he needs to fix himself. He shouldn't make girls want to be his one he has powers to help but he uses them for evil." She was shouting at Maye now, the dry air almost crackled as the temperature in the room rose due to the air con being broken I suppose. 

Maye but a hand that had water on it onto Liesma's arm. I heard a hissing noise before Liesma's hands unclenched and she calmed down. 

"Lie, you're burning up, you're too hot. come on upstairs and get into bed." Maye's voice was calm as her brown eyes bored into Liesma's covered ones. I noticed Liesma wobble before collapsing against Maye's tiny frame. "You're right Maye. Sorry for shouting at you. I don't feel very well." 

I watched maye try to get Liesma to move before she gave up and sent me a pleading look. I sighed and picked up Liesma for the second time in the past 2 days. It was hard to hold her as her skin was so hot it hurt.

I carried her into her room and put her on her bed, walking out to let Maye sort her out.

Ten minutes later I was watching friends on the TV as Maye walked down, looking exhausted. "Thank you. for today and yesterday, saving her from getting raped."

"Did she really mean what she said?" I asked, muting the TV and turning to face her as she sat down.

"Yes. She did." Maye sighed and rubbed a hand over her face, the signs of exhaustion vanishing. 

"You have powers don't you." It wasn't a question more of a statement. Maye gave a solemn nod. "Yes, water." So I wasn't the only one with powers in this town.

"Why does she hate me? What Have I ever done to her!" Maye scoffed at that, so much for water's being nice. "I know Liesma Smith better than anybody but the only reason I can think of is because you make her life a living hell. I have to go. If you need answers try talking to her. If I return and you're alive I'll give you a cookie." 

And with that Maye stood up and left, calling a bye to Liesma.

I ran up the stairs and opened Liesma's bedroom door. she tilted her head so her glasses could see me. I knew when she saw me because she groaned and pulled the cover over her head.
