I burst in through the door, panting heavily. My sudden entrance caused Liesma to look up from the book she was reading aloud. I noticed there was a guy sitting next to her, who had also looked up from reading the same book.
“Uh, Kalix, I thought you were going round your parents’ house.” The guy sitting next to her suddenly looked extremely awkward. The feeling in my chest was strong. Like a tight pull, but not a soul mate pull. I couldn’t see what it was exactly unless I concentrated and I was too busy glaring at the guy to concentrate.
“Kalix, this is Falin. I’m tutoring him for Maths. Falin this is my tenant Kalix.” We shared a mutual nod before he turned back to the book. I noticed Liesma’s eyes linger on him for a while before turning back to me with a questioning glance. “Did your parents kick you out or something?”
“Oh, no, I just had to pick up some books and now I’m back… Err, Sorry to have disturbed you… I’m gonna go to my room now.” I nodded awkwardly before hurrying up the stairs and into my room.
What the heck was that! I was acting like a 6 year old being shouted at by his father! I groaned as I flopped onto the soft bed and rested the back of my head on the pillow. I recognise that guy from somewhere. It doesn’t matter though; he probably goes to your school. Yea, Maybe. I wonder why Liesma was looking at him like that. Maybe she likes him; it would make your job a whole lot easier if she did. I know that but I can’t just ask her can I! You don’t need to idiot, concentrate on the pulls.
After In ended the conversation with my conscious I made sure to clear my mind just like Elder Sevmek told me to. I closed my eyes and concentrated solely on the painful pulling in my chest. It took a while but finally I could see the various colours, twisted together to create a large ball which was being pulled from two sides.
Then I pulled the ball apart and could see the various colours and where they belonged. I looked at Liesma’s side first. The thing that struck me the most was the amount of colours, with different opacities and shades there were compared to Falin’s side. Liesma showed only mild signs of love however there was something there. A bond that normally you get between couples, families or people who had been best friends all their lives.
Liesma’s emotions were overly happy, streaked with bright flashes of pink and purple showing desire and laughter. A deep red colour was the undertone to it, showing an underlying passion, hidden behind everything else. They’re not soul mates. For some reason I felt a bit better when I should be feeling annoyed that I was still stuck with Liesma.
I was just about to move over to concentrate more on Falin’s emotions when a knocking on my window snapped me out of the meditated daze I had put myself in.
Outside the window was a large African Crowned eagle holding tightly onto a thick bound book. I knew it was from my mum since she gave money generously to a birds of prey centre and they often let the eagle fly around, unknowing that my mum could ask it to do favours for her in return for food.
I opened the window and stroked the feathers on the eagles head. With me and my family the eagle, who my mum liked to call Angel, was gentle and never snapped, under my mother’s orders though he would give us the odd clips around the head with his wings, which actually really hurt.
“Thanks Angel.” He shook his head, sending a few tiny feathers onto the window sill before stretching his large wings and flying off towards my house where I knew he would receive a hearty meal.
I picked up the book and chuckled as I read the post-it note stuck to it.
