I woke up and looked at the clock. Midnight. "Seriously. Stupid brain." I grumbled, getting out of bed. I wouldn't be able to sleep for a while now. I walked to the window that overlooked the back garden and saw a small Yellow light on the grass.

I rubbed at my tired eyes and looked out the window again but the light was still there. I grabbed my shirt off the floor and tugged it over my bare chest before walking down the stairs, trying not to trip over the plaid bottoms I was wearing which were a few sizes too long on the legs.

When I opened the door the first thing I heard was singing. I stood in the doorway and listened, trying to see what was happening but I was tired and my night vision thing wouldn't work which was annoying.

" I Will, come to you, when you fall down and the lights fade out. And we'll set the world to rights when I find you under capricornia skies," The voice was soft and melodical yet filled with sadness. The singing stopped and I heard someone sobbing and the sound of a dog licking something.

I walked out into the garden, the grass tickling my bare feet. I walked towards the light to see A mess of red hair covering the large chocolate lab. "Liesma?" She screamed and jumped up, her eyes were squeezed shut as she grabbed the glasses off the floor and shoved them onto her face.

"You scared me." I was almost crying with laughter. "No shit sherlock." I managed to get out. Liesma growled and started to slam her palm into my arm, angrily. "What were you doing?" She asked and I raised an eyebrow.

"I think the question was what were you doing." SHe huffed and folded her arms. "I asked first." I sighed and told her about me waking up and seeing the light. "Your turn."

"I was singing to the stars. Like I do on this date every year. Don't ask why, I just do." I was about to ask why but a head bashing against my lap warned me not to. It was as if that dog was psychic.

I sighed and flopped onto the grass, it was slightly damp but I didn't really care. "Ok, then why were you crying. Were you missing me already?" I could sense the eye roll as she spoke her answer. "I was crying because I was crying. And no one misses you, not even the devil when you climbed up from hell."

I chuckled, too tired to think of an amazingly witty comeback, and rested my head on the ground, looking up at the stars. There were loads of them, the lights in the house were off and no lights were coming from around so the stars shone bright in the sky. I reached for the torched and flashed it in Liesma's face before flicking the switch off.

"This thing woke me up." I groaned dropping the torch on the floor. The large dog's butt was behind my head and I was extremely cautious it would fart.

"Liesma" "mhmm" "Why do you cover your eyes."  She paused and all I could hear was her breathing mixed with the gentle snores of the dog. "Because, Eyes are an open door to the soul, cover the eyes and the door is locked. I don't want people to see them because my life is shit and.... Never mind. Hey, what powers are there?"

I was annoyed at her not so subtle conversation change but I sighed and ignored it. "Umm, Earth, Water, Air, Nature, Moon, Sun, Love, Death but those are pretty rare." I watched Liesma consider it before asking yet another question.

"What about Fire, you said Water, Earth and Air so why not Fire." I sucked in a breath.

"Wanna hear a story?" She shrugged and nodded.

"Once upon a time there were people who had the power of fire. They were easily angered and were very good at cooking, crafting. They could create flames from nothing. One day a large group of Fire People decided to rebel, to become a higher  race than the rest of the people with powers. Normally everyone with a power was equal no matter what they had. The Airs were treated the same as the Loves and Deaths. So the people decided that the only way to keep everything equal was to stop Fires exsisting. They executed anybody who had the power of Fire. If a child turned 5 and got Fire powers then they were killed. Slowly they managed to destroy the Fire gene and now no more children of Fire have been born so the race is extinct. Any races who want to rebel remember this story and it stops them for fear of their race being destroyed as well."

Liesma had gasped through most of the story. "B..But that's terrible! They killed children. That's disgusting! No one deserves to die like that."  I sighed again feeling my anger build. "It had to happen." "No! It didn't! They could've talked! Not made an entire RACE become extinct! That's like killing every Chinese Person in the world and every child born who is chinese till you make the Chinese extinct! It's just wrong!" "Liesma! If it didn't happen everyone else would be slaves!" I shouted, my anger over coming me.

I could feel the glare from behind the glasses. Some how we had both managed to stand up. "Fine! Kill the Rebels but don't Kill Everyone!" "What's done is done!" I felt hot breath that smelt of mints blow over my face. The red haze that had covered my eyes lifted and I saw how close me and Liesma were. I could see every faint freckle on her skin and the tiny scar on her cheek in detail.

I could see Liesma's eyes through the glasses, I couldn't see the colour but I saw them move across my face, landing on my facial features. My eyes trailed back to the scar on her cheek, I reached up and run my thumb along it, trying to see how it was caused. As soon as my thumb made contact with her warm skin she moved her head  to the side and stepped back.

"How did you get all those scars?" She looked down at her arms, a solemn look over her face.

"Do you self harm?" She shook her head. "The small ones are glass, the larger ones are metal." She hugged herself, an embarrased blush on her face. Now's your chance to see her eyes. You have powers, use them.

I walked towards her and lifted her chin so the glasses faced me, keeping my hand in contact with the skin I pushed my power into her "Please show me your real eyes"  Once I gave her enough power to do it I stepped back. "No!" Her hands started to move up towards her glasses, fingers wrapping around the frames. "Please stop this Kalix. Please." I saw the muscles under her skin flex as she tried to stop.

I noticed some of the fingers uncurl before going back to their original position. As her arms tried to take the glasses off she was fighting against my power. "Ouch, Kalix! Please stop it! This really hurts." "Stop fighting it." "Fine! Cocoa Down!" I looked towards the dog who bounded over to me and  dug it's teeth into my clothes, narrowly missing my skin. The dog crashed into me sending me to the ground. A pain blossomed in the back of my skull as darkness formed at the edges of my vision.

"Good boy." Liesma's voice was disorted slightly as the darkness spread, blocking the world out.
