Starting the engine of my car, the radio comes on and out comes the lyrics from Ed Sheeran's Thinking Out Loud. I smile at the song and begin to quietly sing along as I pull out of my driveway, heading down the road.
Today, I've decided to surprise Nicole at her apartment. I know I just saw her yesterday but I haven't really done anything to surprise her yet. I used to always surprise Kelly every so often at her place and she loved it, so it seemed, so I'm going to see how Nicole reacts to it.
Hmm, maybe I should bring her something along with just showing up to her apartment. But what?
I think for a while until I get think of something that I think she'll love. I drive into town to get her what I have in mind and mentally applaud myself for my idea, even though it's a simple idea I'm sure that Nicole is going to love this.

I climb the stairs of Nicole's apartment building, reaching her floor and walking to her door. I lightly knock on her door and hold the bouquet of roses behind my back as I wait patiently for her to answer. When she opens the door, she seems surprised to see me but smiles towards me with dimples carved in her cheeks.
"What're you doing here?" She inquires.
"I came to see you, of course." I reply before handing her the flowers that were still hidden behind my back. She smiles bigger, if possible, and takes the flowers from me.
"I love roses. Thank you, Harry." She says, giving me a hug and planting a kiss on my cheek. "Come on in." I nod before walking in and closing the door behind me as she goes to the kitchen with the flowers.
I take a look around the apartment, noticing that Natalia's toys are in a corner of the room neatly instead of strewn about like I imagined, since most two-year olds can't get enough of playing with their own toys. After noticing how neat the apartment looks, I note that it doesn't seem like Natalia is here and decide on asking Nicole about it.
"Hey, Nic, where's Nat?" I ask as she reenters the room.
"I asked Jennifer to come get her so I could clean the place up a bit." She explains, taking a glance around the room before locking her eyes with mine again. "I actually thought that Nat and Jen were back but it was actually you."
"You sound disappointed that it was me." I remark jokingly, chuckling the slightest.
"Very disappointed." She replies in a sarcastic tone, causing me to chuckle more.
"Ah, I guess I should just leave then." I say, pointing towards the door with my thumb.
"No, don't leave." She pleads with a pout, walking over to me and grabbing my hand, our fingers instantly intertwining. "I like your company."
"Good 'cause I really wasn't going to leave." I reply, chuckling again. She playfully rolls her eyes before pulling me to sit on the couch with her.
"How was your day?" She asks as she begins to play with my hand, intertwining and unraveling our fingers as she looks at me, awaiting an answer.
"It was good, just sat at home, really. Better now, though." I say. "How was yours?"
"It was alright." She begins. "I worked a short shift at the store then came home to Nat and Darcy. Darcy had to be somewhere, a yoga class or something, and Nat decided that I absolutely had to take her somewhere. I asked Jen if she would pick Natalia up and take her somewhere for a couple of hours, I cleaned the apartment, now I'm here talking to a cutie."
"It sounds like you had a busy day." I note.
"That's what it's like being a mom." She chuckles.
"Don't you get tired?" I inquire.
"Of course, all the time. But I get over it and do what I have to do." She shrugs then rests her head on my shoulder. "I'm kinda tired now but Nat should be home soon."
"Well, you can rest until she gets here." I tell her, wrapping my arm around her waist and bringing her close to me.
"I cannot. You're here and I want to talk to you." She says, raising her head up and looking at me. "What's on your mind?"
"How cute you are and how stunning you look today." I reply. "What's on your mind?"
"Uh...um..." She stutters, her face turning a bright shade of red. "I just...Harry." She seems really embarrassed but she looks so cute when she blushes.
"You really are so cute." I chuckle, placing a swift kiss to her lips. When she goes to reply, there's some knocks on the door. She's quick to get up and walk over to the door, getting an instant, big hug from Natalia.
"Mommy! I had good time with Aunt Jen!" She tells Nicole, grinning widely.
"I'm glad, baby." Nicole picks her up and kisses her cheek. "Was she good, Jen?"
"Very good." Jennifer replies as she steps in and closes the door. "Oh look, you've got company."
"Harry!" Nat cheers.
"Nat, I missed you!" I tell her, getting up and taking her from Nicole.
"I miss you, too!" Natalia giggles, giving me a big hug.
"Don't steal my baby loving." Nicole intervenes, causing me to chuckle and Natalia to giggle again.
"Is Harry gonna spend rest a'day with you and me and Aunt Jen?" Natalia asks, glancing to Nicole then back to me.
"If he wants to, of course." Nicole replies.
"I'd love to spend the day with you guys." I tell Nat, giving her a kiss on the cheek. I sit back down on the couch, sitting Nat in my lap as Jennifer takes a seat on the other end of the couch and Nicole sits in between us. I smile as I get ready to spend a lovely evening with Nicole, her cute baby, and her sweet friend.
