A lack of confidence and nervousness ran through my head. There was a long pause between me and Zack before I replied.
"Wait, what?" I asked. Zack chuckled a little. "Dude, don't worry, I won't try to kill you or anything; it's just a test anyway."
"But how will I fight? I'm new to this, man!"
"It'll be fine, your visions will come back to you soon enough. Just follow your instincts."
Hearing him say that didn't bring any ease to my nerves, but what else could I have done? If this was how it would work, then I might as well go along with it. I took a deep breath and asked, "okay, so how do we start?"
"It starts with us being on opposite sides of the arena, so please keep your distance and face me." Zack gestured for me to move back. I nodded at him and backed away a little bit, taking deep and calm breaths as I went. I observed as Zack was beginning to do something with the aura around his left arm. He stretched out his left arm towards me. I prepared for anything he would throw at me, but he simply stood there doing nothing.
"Zack, 'you going to do something or what?" He didn't reply. I could see his lips moving but he was very quiet; like he was chanting something.
I heard, behind me, that which was similar to the sound of ice shattering in reverse. Cold air slithered to the back of my neck, giving me chills. I glanced behind me to see an ice sculpture. Its features seemed like a golem from a fantasy genre, It possessed no recognizable face, with one eye that glowed quite brightly. The sculpture looked down at me then raised its arm. The end of its arm changed into a fist, then went for a smashing hit towards me.
Without any second thoughts, I evaded the upcoming attack, rolling to the left. It's frigid arm shattered against the floor like glass. As the shards of ice splintered off of the golem's arm, it grew into ice once more and stood straight up.
I shouted back at Zack, "Zack, 'the hell is this? Fight me for real!"
Zack sat down cross-legged. "Whatcha talking about? I am fighting you."
I glanced back at the golem, its hand went for a grab. I quickly jumped back. Cold air passed by my torso as the golem missed its chance. "How are you fighting me? I want to go one-on-one with you, not against this giant bastard."
"I said I would fight you, technically. Also, don't insult my golem, he has feelings, ya know. And like I said, this is all just a test. The golems will do a better job at this than me."
"Wait, golems?" I let out an exasperated sigh. "Zack, I will beat your ass after this," I murmured.
The ice golem pulled back its hand after it missed its second strike, and then stepped back a little. Cold frosty air could be seen surrounding the golem's body. It pointed its palms at me. I prepared myself for whatever was coming. A feeling of adrenaline washed over me as I taunted it, "Come on Come at me, Punk!" Small shards of ice grew out of the palm, I wondered what it was about to do though I should've seen it coming. The shards shot out of the palm, raining towards me like bullets.
Not being able to react quickly to the situation, I covered my chest and head using both of my arms and crouched to my knees. The shards hit me like rocks, the pain was felt around my legs and arms, I grunted as the shards continued to hit me continuously before it stopped. The impact of the shards was hard enough to break my bones, yet I feel as healthy as ever.
Zack spoke from behind, "you can feel pain but you can never get injured in the Color Lens. Can you guess why?" I looked back to see Zack leaning forward as he watched, using his hands as a head rest. "No need to answer that question now, we can talk about it after the test."
