Your POV

I sit in front of his desk, starring at it. It's a grey color - it's expensive.

"Why'd you call?" I ask, breaking the silence.

"I wanted to see you." Dad speaks.

"Why? Why after all these years?" I inquire, starring up at him. He folds his hands, leaning on the desk.

"I know you don't want to see me, or speak or talk to me, but please, Y/N. You're my daughter, and I'm sorry - for everything. For walking out, for cheating on your mother, for leaving you alone."

I look away, not speaking a word.

"Okay," He sighs. "Just do this one thing for me - come to a dinner party with me tonight. All the other dads are bringing their daughters and sons..please, Y/N. I'll get the dress and everything else." He begs.

I look up at him, "Just this one time. Oh, and I want a suit."

----

I told him I was a lesbian. He accepted me - good.

I'm now wearing an all black suit, with a bow tie.

"How do I look?" I ask Bea and Shawn, standing in front of them.

"Damn, you look hot." Bea bites her lip.

"Ew, no, hands off." I push Bea's face away.

"You look nice, Y/N." Shawn tells me.

"Thanks," I smile, just as the doorbell goes off. "Well, see you all later."

----

Dad reaches for my hand, but I pull away. I see a flash of hurt on his face, but I choose to ignore it. He should know that I'm not okay with touching him.

People come up to him, talking about work, then him introducing me and shit. That's how it's been this whole night.

I sigh and wonder off to get something to drink.

"Ooh, liquor!" I exclaim to myself, pouring myself some. Bea wouldn't approve, but Demi would.

"Y/N!" I turn around, the liquor in my hand.

"Yeah?" I ask, sipping my drink.

"Come, come, there's someone I want you to meet." Dad ushers me. I roll my eyes and follow him. "Mike, this is my daughter, Y/N."

"Mr. Jauregui?" My eyes widen as I stare him.

"Y/N? I thought you said you didn't know your father." Mike says, raising an eyebrow.

"You two know each other?" Dad questions.

"Yes, her and my dauh-"

"Hey dad - Y/N?"

"Lauren." I whisper, looking her up and down. She's wearing a black dress - the one that I always loved on her. "You uh, you look beautiful."

Lauren blushes, "Thanks." I smile at her and nod, drinking the liquor.

"Ooh," Dad comes into realization. "I see what's going on."

"Dad." I harshly whisper.

"Dad? I thought you didn't know where he was?" Lauren questions.

"I, yeah. He called." I say, looking away

"Oh," She nods. "Well you look nice."

----

I'm standing by a table covered in a white table cloth. I watch as Lauren awkwardly dances with a boy. I roll my eyes and put my cup down, walking over there.

"May I have this dance?" I ask the boy. He nods and walks away. I smile at Lauren, placing my hands on her waist.

"Thanks," She breaths out, wrapping her arms around my neck, "That was really awkward."

"I know, I saw." I respond, looking at her.

"So.." Lauren speaks. "Your dad?"

"He called me the other day, we met up and now we're here." I tell her. "Did I mention how ravishing you look?"

Lauren blushes, a smile on her face, "Yes."

"Oh, well, I said it again," I lightly laugh, swaying to the music. I stare at her before speaking again, "I've missed you."

Lauren sighs, averting her she's from me, "I've missed you too." She quietly admits.

"May I have this dance?" I turn around to see Brad.

"Of course you're here," I mutter under my breath. "No." I turn back around, dancing with Lauren.

"Y/N.." Lauren trails off.

I roll my eyes, stepping away, "Fine. Dance with her. You'll always be her choice anyways." And with that, I walk away.

----

I sit outside on the balcony, the red solo cup in my hands. I can hear the music from here.

"Y/N? What's wrong?" My dad sits next to me.

"Nothing, I'm fine." I lie, drinking the liquor.

"No you're not. I know I haven't been there for you, but let me be here now. Let me be your dad, let me be the one you run too. Please. I can tell something isn't right."

I bite my lip, "Well, if you want to know what's wrong - then you'll need to hear the story."

He smiles, "I got time. This party isn't really my thing anyway."

"Lauren and I used to go out - obviously. But, mom became sick and so I went out every night to go check up on her - then drink. Lauren thought I was cheating on her, so she slept with my best friend, Bradley, and they're now a couple." I explain, looking down and playing with the outline of the cup.

"Brad sounds like a dick." Is all he says.

"He is a dick." I mumble.

"Do you still love Lauren?"

"Of course I do."

"Do you forgive her for what she did?"

"No. But I can forgive her. I will forgive her."

"In order for you to get her back," He says. "You have to learn to forgive her. That's step one."
