Asher POV

After tucking Aidan in, Violet and I joked while walking to her bedroom. "I had a great day. Thank you, Prince Asher." She said after our laughs had settled down. I smiled and replied with a 'no problem'.

"You don't have to address me as Prince, Violet. Asher can do just perfectly fine." I said once we reached her door. She nodded and thanked me again. Before she closed the door on me, I grabbed her hand and felt electricity running up and down my arm. Her breath hitches and she pulled back from experiencing the same feeling. She curiously took my hand and entangled our fingers. I watched in amazement.

"Please tell me that you're feeling this too." She said under her breath. I nodded in wonder.

Over all my 400 years of survival, I have never had this kind of feeling when I made contact with someone. "What does it mean?" She asked curiously. Is it true? Is she my mate? Was that attack destined to put us together? I shook my head in disbelief. My mother is going to love this when she finds out.

"Goodnight Violet." I told her. I pulled away and walked off without a last look behind me. This can not be. She was just recently turned, whereas I came from a long bloodline of vampires. How? What? I've spent much time searching for my mate at one point. I looked through every household of the vampire elite community. When nobody came to avail, I lost hope.

I knew that I've felt this shock on my fingers when I met her, but I brushed it off thinking that it was the adrenaline. I rounded the corner and entered my bedroom. I just have to deal with my parents tomorrow morning, especially mother.

"Asher Sinclair! What in the world are you going to do now? You will be stuck with a human for the rest of your life." Mother lectured again.

I groaned and spoke up, "Mother, this is my life. You have not even met her yet, so you wouldn't know what she is like. Maybe you'll like her." I added to soften my land. Father remained at his desk and worked on some paperwork.

"Raymond, are you not going to say anything to our son? Or the kingdom's future queen?" Mother shouted. She was furious, she looked like her head was going to blow off. Father looked up finally and replied with a simple 'Meet with the girl first. I thought she was quite fine', then returned to his papers. Mother groaned and had no other choice but to accept the invitation to meet the very famous Violet.

I searched for her all over the castle grounds; she did not seem to be anywhere. Nobody knew where she was. When I checked in the last place, low and behold, she was in the woods with Aidan. They seemed to be getting along quite well and they were collecting flowers. She sat on the ground with her legs stretched before her. She wore the perfect smile. Her eyes were closed. Her long, wavy brown hair fell behind her shoulders. The slight wind brushed the loose tendrils. I felt tempted to reach out and push them behind her ear.

Aidan giggled when he finished his surprise. He placed it on top of Violet's head, then he backed away with a bright smile. A smile submerged my face. She looked stunning. Pink mums, her favorite. Her gray eyes glittering in the sunlight. I observed her every move while leaning against the tree.

"You look really pretty, Violet. I made you a flower crown." He giggled. Violet smiled widely and picked him up. She swung him around in her arms. His squeals filled the light air. She stopped mid-spin when she saw that I was eavesdropping. She turned bright red and put Aidan down.

I really adored her affection towards Aidan. I was very glad that they were getting along.

The three of us walked hand-in-hand into the study room, where Mother was surprised to see that Violet has made friends with Aidan. Father had a bright smile on his face. He stood and patted his wife's shoulder. "It is very nice to meet you again, Violet." He addressed.

She bowed her head to the king and queen. "She has great manners as well, Adriana." Violet had a very clueless look on her face. She looked between Mother, Father and I. "Please do sit, Violet. We do not want you to fret about what we're going to tell you." I avoided eye contact with her when she turned my way. She nodded and obeyed to what father said.

"We are the royal bloodline of vampires." He stated after she settled in her chair. He wasted absolutely no time in spoiling the beans. Her eyebrows furrowed. She must think that we are all crazy.

"Okay, so you expect me to believe you now? Vampires are a myth. They were created to scare little children at night." Violet refuted. Her arms were crossed and her back straight. She must think that we're all delirious. The room was silent, only Aidan's car noises filled the room. The tension was definitely building.

"Violet, you have to believe us. We are vampires." He repeated. I tried to compose a serious look on my face and continued to avoid any eye contact.

"Then what am I doing here?" She asked a moment later. She was definitely not persuaded. Maybe intimidated by father and mother, but her emotions could not be read. I bit my lip. I hated the fact that she was masking her feelings from me. I wanted the smiling Violet with the sparkling gray eyes.

"You are here because of Asher." Her head snapped directly at me when Father finally spoke. He definitely chose his words wisely, but now I felt like cowering in my chair. All eyes were on me and the office was absolutely silent.

"I think my job is done now. My son can explain himself, but in the meantime, the queen would love to spend a few minutes with you." Father offered a reassuring smile to the two ladies. Violet nodded slowly. Father and Aidan walked out the room, leaving just Violet, mother, and I. One look at mother and she was not happy. Her arms were crossed and she stood with such confidence, that would put many elites to shame.

The two ladies were making the tension even more thick. Mother sent death glares to Violet, while she returned them. I closed my eyes briefly and hoped myself for the best. I sat back in my chair and braced myself for any questions or insults headed my way.
