Asher POV
Tonight is the night. Tonight is the night when Violet will be safe in my arms again. The men have planned for attack at exactly midnight. Adrenaline pumped through my veins. What should I expect when I get there? Have they done anything to my Violet?
We rode our horses in the darkness of night. The wind picked up and pushed against us. The thumping of the horses' hooves against the hard ground sounded through the vacant night.
The surprise attack would catch Anabelle off guard and I will make sure of that. I was ecstatic when a yellow team member came back reporting that he saw a rogue vampire climb down a trapdoor. Nobody would have guessed it!
My sneaky sister has found herself an underground place, which was a major downgrade from the luxurious palace. I will show her that she shall not mess with me ever again, because I will always have the upperhand.
We stopped a mile away from the said trapdoor, just in case if anyone saw or heard us. A team at a time was dismissed and disappeared into the shadows of the dark lurking forest. We were all armed with our swords and was prepared for a battle. Nobody steals my queen.
Violet POV
I held my breath as Jerry walked through the door and stopped on his tracks when he saw that I wasn't on the concrete slab. He was about to turn around when I grabbed the back of his neck and slammed his head against the concrete wall. He went down, but quickly recovered, I then threw a punch at him and drew my fangs down. I hissed and ripped his throat off without hesitation.
Blood gushed everywhere. I opened my mouth to welcome the fresh sprinkle of better blood, although his blood was not the greatest. I sunk my fangs into his gaping throat and sucked on some of his blood to gain back strength. This man was the very first man that I have eliminated. Hopefully he will be the only one.
I felt terrible for killing the man, but he was going to feed me the worst blood on Earth. When I stood and got closer to the door, I heard screaming and shouting from both men and women.
Strange, I thought that they were just enjoying dinner. I tried to open the door, but it was jammed with something heavy, like a body. I pushed with all my might and "fell" through the door.
There was absolute bloodshed around me. My body froze. I did not know what to do on instinct. Swords and knives were clashing like crazy. Men and women were screaming in pain. I was hit by a strong scent of Ash but I couldn't see him in this mess.
I was slammed against the door by a large man. I didn't know what to do, I was so overwhelmed, so I did the one thing that I knew. Run. Run as fast as you can and never look back. Hope that you will find your way back to the castle.
I climbed out through the hole and used my vampire speed to run as far as I could. Tears were streaming down my face. So many people hurt and I felt like I was going to be sick. Were they hurt because of me?
I stumbled and vacillated on my feet; but I kept on running until I tripped on a protruded tree root. I did not want to run anymore. My head was pounding and my limbs felt heavy again. The adrenaline was still there. My heart felt as if it would tear through my skin.
I curled up into a ball against the tree trunk and cried. I cried like I have never cried before. What is happening to my life? It is all a big mess. Please wake up to Ash's arms. I need him.
