The Wolf With Wings (Editing)

Chapter Three

Amber's POV

"Why did you stay away?" Derek asked me half paying attention to me the other on his mate.

I internally groaned because I was hoping they wouldn't ask me that question.

"It's complicated and I'd rather not discuss it right now." I said shifting my eyes to Jose and then back to Derek hoping he would get what I was hinting at.

Nodding with understanding Derek quickly changes the subject.

"So lets get going so we can get our Alpha back to our pack." The twins quickly shifted in excitement shredding their clothes to pieces and growling with glee. Derek followed also ripping his clothes were as Jose undressed himself, behind a tree, before shifting. They all gathered around me as the twins stood on either side of me, I missed them so much.

"Okay, so I'm going to shift and you can get on my back. Just don't pull my fur too hard please." I explained to Alexis who could not shift because she, unlike us, was not a werewolf. She nodded in understanding before I went behind a tree and shifted into my wolf.

Leaving my clothes there I headed to Alexis, but before I even got near enough to reach her I was being tackled by three wolves. They were all licking my face as I struggled to get out of their grasp and back on all fours. 

Finally, after a couple of minutes I was able to slip out from underneath them and growl playful at my brothers.

They whimpered and bowed their heads down to me as they had been neglected with Alpha attention. I feel terrible for leaving them for so long but there was no other choice. I quickly go to them and rub my wolf head against theirs as a sign of affection. They whimper as they have missed this kind of attention from me. Jose whimpered from the lack of attention or affection from me and my heart panged from the sound but I ignored it. It's his fault that I had to leave my brothers, my pack for that matter. If only he would have stayed and found someway to make the whole mate thing work we wouldn't be in this situation.

I turned and headed towards Alexis once again remembering my task at hand. Lowering my body so that I was laying down on my tummy she quickly jumped on. I stood up and she grabbed onto my fur tightly. The twins got on either side of me and Derek was on Jayden's side while Jose was on Jordan's. I looked at Alexis and she nodded before grabbing my fur tighter. I dug my nails into the ground and took off ignoring the slight sting from my hair getting pulled.

The boys flanked me as I led the way home my paws pounding automatically knowing the way. It felt amazing having my family by my side once again, I can't wait till I have my pack back.

There's one thing I am certain I am gonna have to do when we get home, explain. This is gonna be a long day.

30 minutes from the border

I could smell the familiar ground and the familiar scents. I could smell home.

I quickened my pace from the sudden burst of excitement. I felt when I crossed the border to my land, it was as if an invisible force welcomed me back. I was quickly surrounded by pack members and some others I did not recognize. Alexis slide off my back and got into a defensive position.

I looked around to see if anyone recognized me but no one did. They growled at me as they tried to close in on me like I had taught them. I growled back and took intimidating steps forward daring anyone to come at me. I used all the alpha power in me and challenged anyone to attack.

Finally my pack members recognized their Alpha and immediately bowed down and shifted their ears back in submission. The ones I did not recognize took a little bit longer before submitting to me. The boys had just crossed the border and quickly flanked me.
