'So, when are we moving in?' I asked Mom.
We were going back to our apartment after checking out the amazing house. I still couldn't believe it. I mean, my entire life I believed that the world wasn't a wish granting family. TFIOS. I know.
But this. This was my wish come true.
Bri had already fallen asleep in the backseat.
'Whenever you want, we can move it.' Mom said smiling.
I smiled back at her.
'I still can't believe it, you know?' I said, staring at the traffic ahead. The serene neighborhood was a forty five minute drive from our apartment.
'Yeah.' Mom said. 'Me too.'
'You're amazing, you know that right?' I said, grinning.
She grinned back. 'I know. I'm super mom!' she winked at me.
I smiled, shaking my head.
'When did you even plan out all this?' I asked.
We didn't talk about the pictures or anything. But she knew. She knew that's what drew me more.
The other thing was the quotes. I didn't ask her. Maybe it was because I was still in a daze that she found out that I write.
'It was a month ago. Remember I said that I got promoted? So, yeah. I figured out that we could finally get a space on our own. I checked this one out at that time. I didn't want you guys to know. Surprise, you know?' she grinned again.
'So, once I saw it, I loved it. And I bought it-'
I interrupted her. 'Wait, you bought it almost a month ago and you still didn't tell us?' I asked her, disbelieving.
Her look was apologetic. 'Yeah. I wanted to do some changes to it, you know? So I bought all the furniture, refurbished it entirely-'
'Wait.' I interrupted her again. Excuse me, but this was a big thing.
'You bought all the furniture? You refurbished the entire house? That must have cost a million!!' my eyes were nearly popping out.
'Yeah. I think I did.' She said, still smiling.
'Wait. How did the money come?' I asked her, more likely interrogated.
'Dude, can you wait? I'm coming to that part!' she said, almost pissed.
Did my mom just call me dude????
'Yeah...fine. Continue.' I said slowly, still not over the 'dude' thing.
'Yeah, so. As I was saying, I refurbished it entire, including the paints and the kitchen. When I bought it, it was just a house with peeling paints. So after I refurbished it, I still felt like something was missing. I didn't know what it was, but the next day, I got an idea. You know, being an interior designer, I get certain light bulbs at weird times. So I got this idea when I was cooking dinner that night. This idea was of recreating our memories. So, I collected all our pictures. Of us three. I took from everywhere. The album, my camera, your phone, my phone, the computer-everywhere. Then I edited them-'
'YOU WHAT?' Mom knew how to edit? What the fish?! Right now, I don't even know who this woman is in front of me.
'Chill! I know how to edit, alright? And those pictures upstairs? I took them!' she said with a sense of pride.
