Do you remember the taste of my lips that night I stole a bit of my mother's perfume? Cause I remember when my father put his fist through the wall that separated the dining room.

It all started at school, you were the new girl that caught his eyes. He wasn't sure how to talk to you, but when he saw you sitting all alone at lunch on your first day he knew that was his chance. He asked if he could sit with you and of course you obliged, why wouldn't you? You didn't know anyone at this school, you were all alone, then this really tall, really attractive blonde offers to sit with you who would turn that down? That was where it started, soon enough you guys were friends and then one day he decided he wanted to be more, so with shaking hands and mumbled stutters he asked you on a date. You had to sneak out that night and your dad wasn't too happy when he found out you were with a boy all night, but it was all worth it when he kissed you gently that night and you felt your heart speed up.

And I remember the fear in your eyes the very first time we snuck into the city pool. Late December with my heart in my chest and the clouds of my breath didn't know where we were running to ,but didn't look back.

Luke had never been a troublesome kid, he was a good boy, he always followed the rules. You on the other hand were a risk taker. Maybe that's why you guys liked each other so much because you complemented each other. He made sure you didn't do anything to dangerous or outrageous and you made sure he lived a little. Luke was used to your crazy, whimsical plans after being with you for three months, but when you grabbed your skateboard and his hand in the middle of December he was a little curious. You dragged him to the city pool that would be totally abandoned until the summer months and threw your skateboard over the wire fence.

"What are you doing?" He asked worried as you began to climb over the fence.

"We are sneaking into the city pool to use it as a skate park." You answered looking back at him to see fear in his eyes.

"What? No, absolutely not. This is crazy-"

"Come on Luke, live a little." You teased.

"This is trespassing, that is illegal Y/N, a federal offense."

"It's only illegal if you get caught Luke and we won't I promise. Don't you trust me?"

He sighed, but started climbing up the fence beside you. "Yeah, I trust you."

We'll be looking for sunlight or the headlights till our wide eyes burn blind. We'll be lacing the same shoes that we've worn through to the bottom of the line. And we know that we're headstrong and our heart's gone and the timing's never right. But for now let's get away on a Roman holiday.

It was a warm August Friday evening when he told you. You were sitting in the passenger seat of his car driving to nowhere just like you did every Friday night, but usually the car was filled with off pitch singing and lots of laughter, but Luke was quiet this day and you could see the conviction in his eyes.

"Babe are you okay?" You had asked.

"I have to tell you something." He sighed heavily and pulled over to the side of the abandoned road. He turned to face you and you grabbed his hands which he stared at as he fiddled with your fingers.

"What is it sweetheart?"

"I got a scholarship to a college." He said quickly.

"Baby that's awesome! Congratulations!" You smiled. "What college? There are a lot of good colleges around here and you'll be great in which ever it is, I'm sure of it!"

"That's the thing, the college it-it isn't local." He mumbled.

"Oh, um then where is it?"

"New York," he answered sadly.

"When do you leave?" You questioned biting back tears.

"Next Sunday," he stuttered biting down on his lip for the same reason you were.

"Then we better make this week memorable." You smirked climbing out of the passenger seat of his pick up truck.

"What are you doing?" He called following after you quickly.

"We, are running away, just for a little while. We'll be back before Sunday I promise."

"This is a bad idea. What if we get lost?"

"We'll find our way back then, don't you trust me?"

He laughed. "Yeah, I trust you."

Could you imagine the taste of your lips if we never tried to kiss on the drive to Queen's? Cause I imagine the weight of your ribs if you lied between my hips in the backseat.

The day he went to New York you were riding in the passenger seat of his car as he drove and his parents were behind you by a few hours to say their goodbyes and drive you home. His blue eyes stared straight ahead and the radio was playing softly in the background as you sat curled up against the window. You kept your gaze fixed upon him trying to memorize every feature, the way his blue eyes could turned grey in certain lighting, how his blonde hair lay messily atop his head under his beanie, the way his pale fingers gripped the steering wheel just like the had your hands many times before, the way he chewed on his lip when he was thinking, or crinkled his nose when he thought something was distasteful, the way his cologne lingered in any room he went in, just everything that made him, Luke. Your Luke.

"I love you." You said placing a chaste and needy kiss to his lips when he stopped at a spotlight.

He kissed you back passionately. "I love you too." He smiled when you sat back down in your seat and the light turned green.

I imagine the tears in your eyes the very first night I'll sleep without you. And when it happens I'll be miles away.

You had left the next morning when his parents got there. The entire way home was slow and painful because with every sign you passed or bridge you crossed you knew you were getting further and further from Luke. When you finally got homes hours later you were exhausted and wanted nothing but to fall asleep next to Luke, but you knew that wasn't going to happen for a long time. Maybe never. You knew Luke was crying back in New York, you could practically see his watery blue eyes leaking the tears that stained his rosy cheeks and you could hear his sobs that were muffled by the pillow he was holding to take your place, you knew he was crying because you were too.
