My hands wrapped around the stick shift swerving on the 405, I can never keep my eyes off this
The ringing of your phone at three in the morning caused you to spring awake and reach over to your bed side table. "Hello?" You answered groggily.
As soon as his voice flooded through the speakers you were instantly more awake, his smooth voice was rushed as he said, "Hey meet me outside your apartment in 20."
"It's three in the morning, hell no." You snapped into the phone. You may like your encounters with Ashton, but not at three in the damn morning.
"Please baby girl, I need you." He said slower, your pet name making you blush as it sounded so perfect when he said it.
"Fine," you sighed, "but I'm tired so don't expect much tonight."
"Thank you babe," you could practically see his smile through the phone and that made you smile, but you still managed to roll your eyes.
"Yeah, yeah; see you soon." You finished and hung up the call crawling out of you bed and throwing on some warm clothes that we acceptable to be seen in. Not that you would see many people at three in the morning anyways.
You stood outside on the curb until Ashton's large black truck pulled up and you hopped into the cab. You took off your coat as soon as you were in your seat because it was warm in his truck and he bit his lip. "What?" You asked.
"You're so beautiful." He said and you rolled you eyes, chuckling dryly.
"Okay then," you commented sarcastically. His trucked swerved off the exit ramp you didn't realize you were near. He drove a bit further until he found an empty parking lot and he stopped. He turned to face you and just sat there staring.
"Stop!" You snapped and he chuckled.
"I'm sorry, I just can't keep my eyes off of you." He smiled as you blushed.
"Whatever,"
My neck, the feeling of your soft lips illuminated in the light, bouncing off the exit signs I missed.
You and Ashton had an arrangement. You weren't boyfriend and girlfriend and you were never supposed to be, you were just two friends who confided in each other and pleased one another. No strings attached. You were both just good time calls for one another, you never went anywhere together, never did anything more than fuck and talk every once and a while, you were pretty much just basic fuck buddies and that was okay. Neither of you had a problem with that, but it was supposed to stay at just that. The problem was, it didn't.
After yours and Ashton's activities in his front seat, he decided he would just drive around for a while since he had no where else to be and neither did you. As he drove around you began to fall asleep, you were curled up on his seat and wrapped in his jacket and as you drifted off to sleep he began to notice the light illuminating your sleeping figures. And he couldn't help, but to think about the feeling of your soft lips on his neck, or how you always denied how beautiful you really were, and how warm you always felt, and how sweet you always smelled, and how great it feels to fall asleep next to you. He had to distract himself from all the thoughts of you somehow, so he started to count the exit signs you missed.
Your laugh echoes down the hallway carves into my hollow chest, spreads over the emptiness. It's bliss. It's so simple but we can't stay, over analyze again. Would it really kill you if we kissed?
He saw you in the halls at school everyday, talking with your friends, smiling at people in the halls, flirting with boys that weren't him.
It drove him crazy that you weren't his, but it was a feeling of euphoria every time he saw you or heard you laugh. And he couldn't help but smile to himself every time he saw a guy talk to you because of all the things they didn't know you did with him, but it still hurt him.One day, he heard your laugh echo down the hall and he saw you leaning against a locker talking to one of the biggest douches in the school. It drove him mad watching you two because he knew exactly what that boy wanted from you and he was the only one allowed to give you that. He strolled right up to you and tapped you on the shoulder. "Can I talk to you?" He asked.
"Can't it wait Ashton?"
"No," he answered shortly and grabbed your hand dragging you towards the janitors closet.
"What the hell Ashton?! I was talking to someone! You can't just-" Your raging was cut short as Ashton placed a rough kiss to your lips and stole your breath right out of your lungs.
"Be mine?" Was all he said before he left you standing in the closet alone already late to your 5th period.
He made you think about it. You wanted him to be your boyfriend, sure, but did you want all the trouble that would come with that. You knew how Ashton was, he was troublesome, he left when he was bored, he liked to run wild, and all the girls fell at his feet so he had access to do what ever the hell he wanted. That scared you. What you had now was good. There were no strings attached, so that meant your heart wasn't in it. That it couldn't just be thrown and shattered. You did want to be broken.
But on the other hand, what if being with him was the best decision you ever made? What if he was the one you were meant to be with? What if this thing you to had really was no strings attached and you really did have feelings for him? Maybe, just maybe, you wanted him as much as he wanted you.
All we do is drive, all we do is think about the feelings that we hide, all we do is sit in silence waiting for a sign. Sick and full of pride, All we do is drive and California never felt like home to me. California never felt like home. California never felt like home to me until I had you on the open road and I was singing.
After school that day you went straight to his truck and climbed into the passengers seat, he always left it unlocked, which was pretty dumb because it was one of the nicest cars in the damn town and if someone was going to steal a car it was definitely going to be his. When he got into his truck he wasn't even surprised you were there, or at least he didn't act like it, all he did was turn the key in the ignition and asked "where to?"
You told him, "just drive."
After driving in silence for at least 30 minutes contemplating your feelings for him, you finally spoke up. "Yes," was all that you said.
"What?" He asked confused.
"You asked me a question, I just gave you my answer." You spoke attempting to avoid explaining the whole situation all over again and becoming even more embarrassed, but of course Ashton didn't understand what you were getting at.
"What?" He questioned again.
You huffed in annoyance and then the blush began to run up your cheeks. "Yes, I will be 'yours' Ashton."
A look of realization washed over his face and then soon melted into a look of pure joy. "Really?"
"Yes, really. I thought about it all day and I realized I was never really happy until you came into my life and now you kinda, i don't know, feel like home. I just figured out I really do like you and not just sleeping with you." You admitted with a red tint on your cheeks.
"Babe, there's no need to be embarrassed, I feel the same exact way." He smiled.
"Good," you said and then switched on the radio not really wanting to speak anymore, but happy to be with Ashton. A smile was spread across both of your faces as you drove around for hours.
