When I got home everyone was asking how the day was. I didn't talk until Jakob came up to my room. "What was it like?" He asked. "What was what like?" I asked. "School." He said. "It was okay." I said. Then my phone went off, and he went to grab it. "No. I got it." I said grabbing it out of his hand. I saw it was an unknown number which kinda scared me. "Hello?" I asked whoever was on the other line. "Hope, it's Brittany Evans." She said. "How did you get my number?" I asked. "I asked Ashley for it." She said. "Why?" I asked again. "I wanted to talk to you." She said. "Okay." I said. "Will you meet me at the park?" She asked. "Sure, but I have to ask my dad if I can." I said. "Okay. Tell him I will pick you up if he says yes." She said. "Got it." I said. "Bye Hope." She said. "Bye Brittany." I said. When I hung up my phone Jakob sat there looking at me. "Who is Brittany?" He asked. "An old friend of mine." I said. "Oh. What did she want to do?" He asked. "She wanted to see if I wanted to meet her at the local park, and I said yes." I said. "How do you know her?" He questioned. "Easy adoption center." I said.

I walked downstairs and saw my dad sitting at the table with Adrienne and Joseph. I walked over to them and then they all looked up at me. "Dad, I was wandering if I could go hang out with an old friend?" I asked. "Only if I know him or her." He said. "Joseph, did you have Miss Evans for math?" I asked. "Yes." Joseph said. "Then you know her dad." I said. "How do you know Miss Evans?" He asked. "She was my old friend I was talking about in the car." I said. "Oh." He said. "Dad, she said she would pick me up." I added. "Well, sure." My dad said. "How do you know she isn't lying?" Adrienne asked. "Here." I said pulling out my phone. I called Brittany back and then she answered. "Hope, is it a yes?" Brittany asked. "My stepmother doesn't believe that I will be with you." I said. "Wait, Adrienne?" She questioned. "Yes." I said. "Not surprised at all. Joseph was bad in my class." She said. "You're on speaker phone." I said. "Well who cares." She said making me laugh. "I missed that laugh." She said. "I just can't believe we found each other again." I said. "I was going to adopt you, but I thought you wouldn't remember me." She said. "I could never forget you." I said. "Probably being nice because of your family." She said. "No." I said. "How could I forget you?" I asked. "I don't know, but you are you." She causing me to laugh again. "I know." I said. "Well Mr. Armstrong is it a yes?" She asked. "Yes, she can go." My dad said. "Thank you dad." I said hugging him. "Bye Brittany!" I yelled. "Bye Hope!" She yelled back.
