-Hope's POV-
CHRISTMAS!!! CHRISTMAS DAY!!! A day Catholics use to celebrate the birth of Jesus but to any other person, it's a day to get gifts. Which is lowkey what I am most excited for. I was in my room waiting for someone to come get me to open presents. Mom had gotten the whole family matching outfits, which I think is cool. I've never had this, so it's cool. I spent the last couple of days figuring out how to ask Adrienne to adopt me. I'm so ready to get this over with. I had taken the time to write out the letter and let me tell you that shit was hard. Taking time to figure everything out, that was hard. I had put it in a card. I was going to give this to Adrienne after I had given everyone their gifts. The only people here would be our family. The band was getting together tomorrow. Which I was glad about. I could tell you what the letter said; I practically had it memorized.
Adrienne,
Thank you for taking me in and treating me like your daughter. I'm glad that you've become my mother in this time of knowing each other. I would like to know if you would be willing to become my full-time mother by adopting me. I know that in a way you're my stepmother, but I would like to have you as a mother. I've thought about this a lot recently and I wanted to keep it a secret so no one else, except for Ashley, knows about this.
With lots of love
Hope
I hope she says yes. I mean this is the only thing I truly want for Christmas. Yeah, I have a family now, but I still don't have a mom. Every other gift had to be put downstairs near the tree. I've never really had a Christmas before, so Mom made it a big deal. It's weird. I don't know what to expect. Ashley and I usually don't really do anything on Christmas. "You ready for presents?" Dad asked walking into my room. "I guess," I said. I was nervous about this. I don't know why though. It's probably because I'm not used to this. "There's no reason to be nervous. No matter what we all know that these things are very new to you." Dad said. I nodded. I got up and grabbed the letter. "Let's go down there," I said. Dad nodded and then left my doorway. I followed him down to the living room.
"All of the gifts are separated already. Yours is over there." Mom said pointing towards my stack of presents. "You guys didn't have to get me anything," I said. Jakob and Joseph both started to laugh at me. "You deserve it. We missed having a full family Christmas for years." Jakob said. I laughed at that. "I take full blame for that. If I kept track of her, we'd have had a full family Christmas for years." Dad said. "I think this Christmas is going to be better than most I have had," I said with a smile. Mom smiled widely. "We are going to have to take family pictures. I'm glad you all wore the outfits I bought for today," Mom said. "This is cool. Is this what a normal Christmas is like?" I asked. "Usually we don't wear matching outfits, but this year is an expectation," Joseph said. I smiled widely. I never understood Christmas time. People don't get that there are children who never get to experience what they do." I said. "Well, then you get to go first with opening your gifts." Mom said. I smiled and grabbed a gift. I opened it and saw that there was a Motionless In White hoodie in it. I couldn't help it and started to cry.
After I was done opening my gifts, it was Jakob's turn then it went to Joseph. Dad went after Joseph and then it was Mom's turn. When Mom thought she finished I grabbed my letter. "I have one more gift for Mom," I said walking it over to Mom. I walked back over to my seat and sat back down. She opened it up and read it. I saw that her eyes started to tear up. She stood up and walked over to me. "Can I have a hug?" She asked. I nodded standing up. She hugged me tightly. "You never had to ask me. I planned on talking to your father about doing this. To know you want this makes it even better." She whispered. "I was worried you wouldn't say yes." I whispered. "You had nothing to be worried about. I would want nothing more than to be your mother." She whispered. I felt some tears flow down my face. "What was the gift?" Dad asked. Mom let me go and looked over at Dad. I noticed she also had tears going down her face. "Hope, wants me to be her mother." Mom said. "But you already are." Jakob stated sounding confused. "Not on paper. She may call me Mom, but to the law that isn't much. Legally I have no rights to her. She asked if I'd adopt her as mine." Mom said. "This has got to be the reason you've been hiding more than normal." Joseph said with a smile. "It is." I said smiling so hard it kind of hurt. Dad seemed to be sitting there in shock. "I'm sorry I didn't tell you Dad. I really only told Ashley, but that's because I wanted someone on the outside of our family's thoughts on it. When it comes to these types of things, Ashley knows what's best." I said. "There's no reason to be apologizing." Dad said. I looked at him confused as I watched a smile form on his face. "All of my children are in this house and now my family will be complete." Dad said with a smile. "WE GET A SISTER!" Jakob said making me laugh. This is my family. We are now complete. I got the one thing I really wanted. A family. I don't think I realized it. I looked around the room and smiled to myself. It was a merry Christmas.
A/N MERRY CHRISTMAS! (To those that celebrate). HAPPY HOLIDAYS! (To anyone else). I hope to learn more about different religions after this because I don't want anyone to feel left out since in the US Christmas is the major holiday that we celebrate. I hope that by this time next year, I can include other religious holidays. Also I'm going to wish you all a Happy New Year now just in case I don't update by then.
