Looking through his next dossier, Shiki wondered who this man was. Warlock Hadate. He was a soldier but was stripped from his duties due to violation of orders. This didn't bother Shiki though.
He arrived at the library which the dossier suggested that Hadate goes to everyday to study. This library was a place where magicians young and old can test their alchemy and learn magic through books.
The library had mages from males to females testing alchemy and looking through books to advance their magic and alchemy. Shiki saw Hadate on the corner, reading a book.
He had green eyes and brown hair, wearing casual clothes like any civilian would. Shiki walked over there and sat at the same table.
Hadate looked at him "Who are you suppose to be?" He noticed the military clothes "You're a military person but I have never seen you yet."
"That's because I am new," Shiki said "My name is Shiki and I'll be honest here and say that I want to recruit you."
Hadate squinted his eyes "You actually think I'll even accept going back to the military?" He looked away "No thanks, I am not working for people who won't let me follow my ethics."
I guess that's what the dossier was saying, he violated orders to do something he thought was the right thing to do "I am not asking you to join the military but to join my team and I'll allow you to follow what you believe in."
"You're a strange one to give me such conditions," Hadate said "I have never met anyone who would even allow their subordinate any choice except to follow orders."
"You're useless to me without your own free will," Shiki said "I want someone who can make their own decisions not simply follow orders at a drop of a hat."
Hadate pondered for a moment and nodded "I guess I may consider but what makes you think you'll be able to beat the horde."
"You doubt that we can?"
"I do, what I saw in the last invasion already proved what even a minor number of them can do to a city," Hadate said "I don't like our chances so tell me something that can turn this around."
Shiki pulled apart his bandages and showed the mark covering his entire arm "This is the reason that I believe we can turn this war."
"You're that Shiki person everyone was talking about," Hadate said "I guess since its you then I'll go along with you but until I see the power, I am not convinced yet."
Four men barged inside the library and scared the other mages away. The men shoot at Hadate and Shiki.
Quickly, Shiki and Hadate doved behind a bookcase and took cover. Hadate peeped through the corner "Who are these guys?"
"I don't know," Shiki said "We need to deal with them now."
Hadate nodded and blasted a concussive blast from his hand. A man hit the wall and his head smacked on the hard wall. Three moved in, shooting him. Hadate took cover.
Shiki whooshed across the room and shot one in the head and another in heart. The last one threw away his gun and swung a baton.
The baton swished past him as Shiki dodged. He drew his sword. The man's arm severed and he screamed.
Hadate directed his hand towards the man. To smash his head down the ground, he used his telekinetic powers. The man's head cracked against the ground.
Walking inside, Kaise looked towards them both "I guess you two were attacked as well," he said "You better hurry because I think these guys know that you're going to recruit Tatsuya."
Shiki rushed over there with Kaise and Hadate behind him.
The three arrived at a place where the dossier suggested that Tatsuya hangs around at which is near a lake.
The place mounted with many corpses along the way and only two men remained with their guns pointed towards Tatsuya.
Shiki noticed Tatsuya remained unscratched despite the numerous men who came here to kill him. Tatsuya had purple eyes and black hair, wearing metallic gauntlets.
The men moved in and shot him. Tatsuya bursted past the bullets and plunged his hand through a man's chest. He removed his hand.
"That's insane!" The other man aimed his gun at him.
Tatsuya slapped the gun away and clutched his head "Now die," his gauntlet resonated a strong sound that exploded the man's head into pieces.
He is incredible. The dossier said he is a dangerous criminal under surveillance. Shiki and the other two walked towards him.
"Are you here to kill me too?" Tatsuya asked "I am not sure who these men were but I have not violated anything."
"These guys attacked us too," Hadate said
Shiki nodded "I want you to join my team and help me stop the horde," he said "I know that even your past that you want to stop them too."
"I am a criminal so what would the military gain by recruiting me?" Tatsuya asked "I don't understand."
"You're only joining my team," Shiki said "I know despite the fact that people label you a criminal that you want to stop the horde like anyone would."
Tatsuya said nothing.
"I am giving you that chance right now," Shiki said.
Tatsuya nodded "I guess that will do."
Legions of soldiers showed up with guns locked at them. Yamagata stood and pointed his gun "Shiki, you're under arrest so surrender now or I will kill you."
