Amelia’s POV:

(RECAP)

“...Amelia!”

What! When did this happen? How did this happen? Why did this happen? Why couldn’t the King just pick a woman who has her own head stuck up her own arse, not me! I guess I got my wish come true... But I don’t want this! I guess I’ll just have to act like normal but a little bit boring so that the Prince would say that he doesn’t want to marry me! That would be the perfect plan! The crowd were murmuring, probably about how the King could pick me as I wasn’t full royal blood, but then, thankfully, they started to clap.

“Amelia! May you please remove your mask so that we can identify you and so that one of the maids can lead you to the dining room to dine with my son!”

The King couldn’t look any happier whereas the Prince couldn’t look more annoyed... Guess my job of getting the Prince to not want to marry me will be easier than I thought. The Prince got off his chair and in a huff left the room. It seemed like he liked that other woman more than me... I slowly removed my mask and one of the maids saw this and took my hand. She wasn’t anything special, her blond hair was scraped back into her cap and she was quite small and thin. Guess that showed how well the King looked after his maids. Amy, my maid, had curves and they weren’t small, so I think that if there was a contest on who looked after their maids’ best it would be me and my mother. As she pulled me though the crowd I could see quite a few women already seething in rage. It was quite funny to watch considering they wanted to meet Prince Simon so bad and I got it instead even though I didn’t even want to meet him. Okay I’m lying, I want to meet him, but, whether I actually want to marry him, that was a long shot which would probably be end up being a no. If it wasn’t me saying no then it would be him. She led me out of the hall into a large corridor lavishly dressed with ornaments placed in every crevice possible. There was a golden dragon as one of the ornaments, and there were many guards which wouldn’t be a surprise if you think about how much treasures were here. They were wearing the royal seal, which was a golden serpent with red flames coming out of its mouth, with water surrounding it like a sea would. The floor was bare apart from a long red rug and the walls were, again, made out of stone. I walked alongside the maid until we came to two huge wooden doors and the maid bowed down.

“The Prince shall already be inside miss and he awaits your presence. Have a good night my lady.”

And with that she left me to stand and stare at the two doors in front of me. As I summoned up enough courage I went to open the door. But to my utter dismay the doors were too heavy for me to open. I pushed and pushed and pushed at the door but it wouldn’t budge. There was a guard standing right next to me sniggering because I couldn’t open the door.

“Excuse me? Can you please stop sniggering and open this door for me as it seems that it is too heavy for me to open.”

“Yes madam...”

He went to open the door.

“And by the way it’s a pull door, not a push door...”

With that he pulled open the doors leaving me standing blushing furiously like a tomato. Inside the room looked pretty much like my dining room, which I was very happy with. The prince was playing about with his food with a huge scowl on his face. At the moment in time ‘If looks could kill’ came straight to mind. He looked up at me with such disgust I actually took a step back it was so frightening. He looked like he wanted to kill me.

“Sit down so that we can get this over and done with!”

He motioned to the chair furthest away from him and I timidly sat down cautious to the point that I felt like I was going to have a heart attack. He was full of so much rage and I hadn’t even said a word to him. Because I was so nervous I started to fidget in my seat which only angered him even more.

“Can’t you sit properly like any other normal person?!”

His harsh tone surprised me and when I spoke I stuttered really badly.

“S-s-sorry m-my l-lord. I-I didn’t m-mean t-to anger y-you.”

“How pathetic are you?! You cannot even talk normally when you are in the presence of royalty?! What time is your carriage arriving so that I can get you out of my sight?!”

What happened to the man I saw protecting the woman who insulted the King? What happened to him? That’s the man I want to talk to, not some jerk who cannot hold his tongue in the company of a lady. I was very angry and hurt at his accusation but I had to stay because if I left that would make me seem even more pathetic than he already deems me to be.

“My carriage arrives at eight o’clock sharp.”

“What’s the time now...”

He seemed as if he was only speaking aloud but to prove that I was intelligent I looked around and found a clock. Great... It’s only seven o’clock...

“Seven o’clock my lord.”

“Can you keep quiet I am perfectly capable of finding out the time myself! You shouldn’t even be here! My mad would be better than you! At least she’s prettier!”

Now that was the final blow, I wasn’t going to stick around any longer just to make my mother happy. I could already feel tears welling up in my eyes and I felt like lashing out at him. But I didn’t because I am civilised unlike somebody.

“Well I’m sorry if I’m not what you expected! Because quite frankly you are not what I expected either! You are in no way, shape or form, a gentleman! You father should have taught you better than that! You should know that you should NEVER treat a woman in that way! Not only is it rude, but quite frankly it is disrespectful and highly Ungentle man like!”

The Prince’s mouth opened to retaliate but before I could give him a change I ran out as fast as I could with tears streaming down my face blinding me so I could hardly see where I was running. The guards looking at me in wonder and it took all of my will to not simply slap them round the face and call men all the words under the sun. Especially the Prince, but if I done that I would be sent straight to the dungeons just like that woman. Good luck to her, if the Prince treats all women like that no doubt about it, she will die. I ran through the corridors till I could feel the cool wind of the outside blow into my face thrashing my hair so that it blew in all directions. I knew that I had to wait for my carriage but I’d much rather wait for my carriage out here than in the dining room with the Prince. We didn’t even dine. We only fought and I cried and ran. I was still running until I ran straight into something which sent me flying. I landed on the floor in a mess and because I had cried so much I couldn’t see the person who I had ran into. I was about to apologise when they let out their hand and told me.

“Are you okay? I’m so sorry, I was in such a hurry I didn’t see you there.”

I could hear the urgency in their voice but it was muffled so I couldn’t tell whether it was a man or a woman. I was glad they apologised as in a way it made me feel as if they were apologising for everything that had happened to me today. I knew that they were only apologising for making me fall onto my butt, but it still made me feel better.
