The next morning Luke stood in her room next to the doorway. All the blinds were down making the room very dark. He stood there, watching her sleep. "What am I doing, I shouldn't be here," he thought. Ulonna awoke from his mental echo in her mind, it was soft, but it still echoed. Then she could smell his scent, and she knew who it was.
"Good morning Sedrn, I mean Luke," she said clearing her throat. She opened her eyes to find him standing at the door about to leave. His back to her.
"Don't go." she pleaded. Her voice pulled to him, making him pause. She sat up waiting for his reaction. He stood there frozen, not knowing what to say.
"That's not a name I've heard before," he said turning, slowly.
"I can't believe I just called you that." She said looking down at the foot of the bed.
"Why, is this someone in your passed?" he asked. Ulonna hesitated, she didn't quite know how to answer.
"I guess, you could say that." her words intrigued him, pulling him closer. He sat on the bed next to her. She finally looked up at him and smiled.
"What?" he asked. She touched his clean shaven face.
"Better," she said. "I think it takes off ten years."
"Really?" Ulonna nodded. "Except for the scar."
"Hey, nothing wrong with battle scars."
"You think so."
"I know so."
"Do I....look like this Sedrn?" he inquired. Ulonna smiled, and she chuckled to herself. That wasn't a hard question for her to answer. He didn't quite get the joke, but he smiled.
"More now than ever," she admitted.
"I guess that is funny, you look like someone I once knew, and I look like someone you once knew. We're not too different are we?"
"No," she agreed. He paused for a long moment trying to think of something more to say. He wanted to bring up the subject of her training, but he didn't quite know how to approach the subject.
"Well..... It is a beautiful morning." he continued frustrated with himself.
"Are we talking about the weather now?" she questioned confused. Luke sighed and closed his eyes, she was reading him like a book and when he didn't open his eyes, she continued. "It sounds to me like......like you're stalling." That opened his eyes.
"No," he choked. "I...... I brought you these," he stammered. His irritation with himself flowed to the surface as he held up the clothing in his hand. "I just thought that, you might want to change into something more clean." he retorted with a sigh.
"Oh...thank you," she paused for a moment and then slipped out of bed. She was hardly wearing anything. Her sleeveless see through nightgown was pretty revealing. Luke took one look at her, and then turned away. Ulonna smiled, "he's modest," she thought. Then she walked to the bathroom. Luke sat there gathering his thoughts. Hoping for the right opportunity for the subject he wanted.
"Besides you calling me another name, you knew it was me before you opened your eyes. You have good instincts." He said placing the clothing on the bed and standing up. Ulonna smiled to herself and threw on the white cloak.
"That wasn't instincts Luke." She said peeking out the door.
"Then how?" he asked. Ulonna stepped out of the bathroom and walked over to where he was standing. She took his hands to her face and closed her eyes. Then she breathed in that smell. Luke looked at her hands and saw her fingers and then the ring again.
