I blinked my eyes open slowly and rolled out of bed onto my floor. frowning in the light.
"Ugh, ten o'clock and i'm still tired?" i muttered as i stumbled to the bathroom.
"Perks of being an insomniac on summer break." i yawned and looked sadly at the girl in the mirror staring back at me.
Her dusty brown pixie cut sticking up in every way possible, her dull green eyes and the dark circles under them that never went away, her small body, and the mouth that hardly smiled.
The girl was me.
I am Kelly Anne Donnings.
My family and the few friends i actually have call me K.
I am fifteen years old, i attend a small public school in town.
I live in the middle of nowhere in the small state Delaware.
Most people have never even heard of it and its one of our fifty states.Enough about me.
Back to the story."Am i going to have to go anywhere today?" i sighed and looked at the calendar messily hung on my bathroom wall.
Monday July 27th.
I had a carnival to go to with my family in about an hour.
"Great. the glowing hate orb and humans!" i muttered as i slipped my ripped black skinny jeans on and then grabbed a My Chemical Romance shirt that read; 'I'm Not Okay.'
After putting my foundation, eyeliner and mascara on i brushed my hair.
Seeing as i didn't have time to shower and fix it properly i tossed on my beanie before lacing up my beat up old white converse and heading out into the living room.
My mother was in the kitchen fixing herself some tea, my father had just walked outside to the car and my brother was on the couch playing a video game.
"Oh good, you're awake. i was just about to come get you." My mom said.
"Yep." i shrugged and set my ipod down on the counter in front of me before sitting on a creaky old wooden stool from my younger years.
"You hungry?" she asked.
"Nope." i replied and picked my ipod up, typing in the four digit screen code.
"You need to eat before we leave, dear." she frowned and stopped stirring her tea.
"Fine, hand me one of those bananas then." i sighed and pointed across the room at the bowl of fruit.
My mom nodded and handed me the yellow fruit.
"Thanks." I said quickly and hopped off the stool. Taking my ipod and heading to the couch.
"Hey freak." My brother said and scooted over giving me room to sit without looking up from the screen of his video game.
"Shut up." i laughed and rolled my eyes after i finished my meager excuse for a breakfast.
"Make me." he smirked.
I reached over and flicked the top screen of his gaming device down so it shut.
"No! don't do that! i could lose all the data i've been working on for the past half hour." he squealed and ran into his room.
I stretched out on the couch and lay on my back with my eyes closed.
The peace i felt did not last longer than fifteen seconds.
My dad came in through the door stomping his feet off.
"Okay!" he bellowed. "i got the car running we need to leave now or we'll be late for Ron's competition!" he added and stomped his feet off on the door mat.
"Okay dear. i know. what does it look like i'm getting ready to do?" my mom said, already sounding irritated with my father.
"Drink tea?" i muttered so nobody heard and rolled over onto my side.
My brother walked back out of his room and into the kitchen.
"Hey Ronald McDonald!" My dad laughed and ruffled the boy's curly red hair.
Thats what my dad sometimes called him.
My parents really could not have chosen a worse name for the kid.
He'd gotten my mother's uncontrollable red hair and freckles while i got my dad's flat brown hair.
I like to hope that i am more attractive than either of my parents even while i know that is not and never will be true.
My brother got the good looks.
If there were any to get.
"You ready bud?" my mom asked my brother.
"Yeah! i can't wait." he replied and walked out the front door to the car.
"Get up lets go." my dad snapped at me and followed Ron out the door.
"Ugh i'm coming. its not my fault we're late." i groaned and got up slowly, reaching to rub the sleepiness out of my eyes but stopping myself from doing so when i remembered i had makeup on and not enough time to fix it if it got smudged.
"But it will be if you don't get going." My mom joked and whacked the back of my head as she shut the door behind me.
I climbed into the way back seat of our seven seater mini van and watched my brother get in one of the middle seats and my parents in the front.
My dad hit a button under the steering wheel to use the motor that shut the side doors.
"Finally, festival bound! hopefully there will still be a place for you in the contest, Ron." my mom smiled as we pulled out of the driveway.
If anything important happened along the way to the festival i could not recall it for you.
I had my earbuds in and had leaned against the seat half asleep as Black Veil Brides blared in my ears for the half hour journey.
